Looking Back on 2017, the Year of Firsts
I don’t recall if I’ve ever written any sort of year-in-review blog post or even social media post, but this year I have had so many firsts that I wanted to reflect on and share my thanks for. Health In the health department I not only reached my initial target goal weight but actually surpassed it, and my second target. I think this year I’ve weighed the least that I have in 26 years. I have always struggled with my weight and living a more healthy lifestyle. I attribute my success primarily to my wife, and also to the encouragement of many friends and family. I also had to have a lot of self-determination as well, but that was only had by seeing the impact my…
Wild Life: No One Gets The Master Plan, And No One Is Perfect
I’ve known for a long time that I’m a perfectionist and a planner. This had always been both a strength and a great weakness for me. The major weakness is that I’m always trying to figure out God’s plan and I turn my perfectionism into unrealistic expectations of others. Also my perfectionism takes a lot of joy out of life. Then you will receive all that he has promised. – Hebrews 10:35-36 NLT There is a lot of perseverance that I need these days. Between work, our new house moving, serving at Daybreak, and training for the Fifth Third River Bank Run I’m being pulled and challenged and it’s easy to feel like giving up on any one of those. Thankful for God’s encouragement and truth today.

Taking A Break From Tech
So a few days ago a came across an article about a different app, for iOS, that had the intent on monitoring and setting up some boundaries when it comes to smartphone use. This app was one that had been previously reviewed, and recommended, for Android devices. I’m giving this a try, as I’m trying to do better with putting the technology aside and actually “being there” my family. The smartphone has it’s benefits, but like anything there needs to be a balance.
