Cutting My Long Run Short, And A Couple Of Injuries Along The Way

Today was an early morning to get my long run in before family stuff. I hit the road around 4am and things were going good, up until between mile 7 & 8 when I tried getting off the road for an oncoming car and ran into some sort of poll tearing my watch of my arm and scraping my wrist.

I thought the rest of the run would be fine after that. However, I got to about 14 miles and was passing by some construction and I totally didn’t see the missing sidewalk and bit the dust something terrible, going down hard. My knees where all banged up and bleeding. I managed almost another 3 miles before making it home with blood running down my legs. This was definitely not one of my good days. I’m sore but was glad to have made it home still running, but a bit slower. I need to make sure I put fresh batteries in my headlamp next time since it was getting a bit too dim. Maybe I wouldn’t have had this accident if I would have had better lighting.

Fight The Fight, Finish The Race, Keep The Faith

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing. – 2 Timothy 4:7‭-‬8 NLT As Christian husbands, and fathers, we are in a battle every day for our families. And each day we have the opportunity to do something to continue the fight. “…the more we keep our bodies fit and free from addictions and stuff that slows us down and causes problems, the more energetic and focused we will be to fight those battles for…

Back In The Saddle As The Groundhog Day Marathon Draws Near

After an extra day of rest after my Saturday long run in back at it. It’s crazy to think that 1 week ago I ran in like 40° colder temps. We’ve had a pretty mild winter in Michigan. At this point there is no be telling what marathon day will be like, which is all other more reason to be hitting the pavement regardless of what the weather is like. During my run this morning I enjoyed listening to my running worship music but I also took some time to lift up the many medical needs of those I know. It seems like these days terrible medical conditions are constantly all around us. I’m thankful for the gift of an awesome eternal life free from…

    While Running Anything Can Happen

This week I was pretty off on my #training but I got my long run in today since I’ve got an all day conference tomorrow. It felt good to be back out running and I even felt good about my pace, for an easy long run. I’m not sure if it was God leading me but I started thinking about Sierra Leone and the next team going and wondered if I should consider leading the team. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water #HessLakeRun #SierraLeone

Kicking Off A New Training Plan

After still not quite getting much in for running the last two weeks I decided to just start a new training plan. For me, I need the motivation of a plan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a matter of if I don’t have a plan I won’t run, it does make it harder, but it really comes down to just not wanting to have to figure what I’m going to run every morning. With a training plan there is no question of what am I going to run, I don’t have to think about it, I just get out there and do what the plan says. Besides starting a new training plan, something that was said to me the night before, in regards to…

Starting Off The Week With A Long Wet Training Run

Despite the rain and chill, caused by a little breeze, it was decent enough to get out for a longer run. The weather was still a big motivator to keep going, which unfortunately caused my pace to be faster than what the training plan called for, but oh well. #Endomondo I enjoyed a run full of #worship music, but I felt so overwhelmed by the needs of friends and family, physically; emotionally; and spiritually, that it was very hard to focus and being very specific in my prayers. Perhaps this morning was supposed to be more about worship then bringing the never-ending mound of needs to Him. I’m still hoping to continue to raise money for more wells. I’d love to be able to hit…
