God’s Plans, My Hope

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

I know there will be good days and not so good days. There will be times that the future seems uncertain. Despite how things may seem I know that God has my future in mind and I can rest and rely on that hope.

What Does It Mean When A Pandemic Hits A Country Already In Need

As I ran another 5 miles this morning I couldn’t help but think about the added struggle #COVID19 is now causing in Sierra Leone. I don’t think anyone complaining about the U.S. hardships has even thought about the fact that we still have it pretty good compared to places like Sierra Leone. With all of our indoor plumbing we don’t have to think about travelling 2 miles to a crowded well to gather water. A country like Sierra Leone is between a rock and a hard place when any epidemic hits. How can anyone survive a stay-at-home order if they don’t have water at home for both drinking and sanitation. The only hope they have is organizations like World Hope, and other NGOs, trying to…

    Catching Up…

Well I feel like I’ve been really disconnected over the past few days. It’s kind of crazy how your life can feel likes it’s fallen apart when you don’t have internet. Ok, so my life didn’t fall apart, but I was at a loss of what to do. I guess it got me going to bed a bit earlier. My biggest issue was not being able to blog. I’ve kind of become so accustomed to doing my blog when things prevent me from doing it I feel like I’ve become disconnected. Anyways, internet is back and life is good. I’m going to split this post up for each day. I actually got going on a pretty long post and figured I break it up little,…

    Race Pace Training Run

#HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water Only a little wet this morning but it actually felt good by keeping things cooler. Tried to keep at a race pace but as usual my pace was a bit of a roller coaster. Even with music I can’t keep it very consistent from one minute to the next. I need to work on that, but perhaps my consistent race pace is slower than I’d like it to be and that’s why I have such a hard time. I know that I was pushing the limits given how high my heart rate would get. I think maybe it’s time to put aside the training plan that is trying to get me faster and just get out and enjoy the run. Not…

Knocking Out 14 Miles For Clean Water

This past week I was reading a YouVersion devotional written by a marathon runner. The author talked about the point during the marathon when we are faced with the question “why am I doing this?”. This can also happen during those tough training days. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Today was a good day, but on a long run the question of why can still pop up. Why did I wake up a 5am on a Saturday to run 14 miles? The reason for me is 3-fold. First is the mission to continue sharing the need for clean water. Second is do my best to stay active and healthy. The third reason is to be an example to my kids, and by getting up early I’m…
