My First Big Race, Fifth Third Riverbank Run

Today wasn’t my 1st race but it was the first big race with a lot of excitement and energy. I had the pleasure of running with a HWI Team Daybreak member, Scott Woody. We finished in excellent time given it was a first 10k race for both of us. I know that today was nothing compared to the experience of the Grand Rapids marathon with the full Daybreak crew. I had such an awesome time, and the feeling of accomplishment and energy as we came into the finish was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. When I start talking with people about my running there is always the question of why I’m running and what my goals are. I’ll be honest that running just kind of happened. Don’t misunderstand, running wasn’t an accident, but rather came out of inspiration from my wife and the fact that a team of runners formed at my church. I wasn’t involved in the Hope Water Team raising money for well in Africa this past year, but do intend on helping this year. Back At The 5K Training

Back At The 5K Training

I got back outside and returned to using Endomondo for my 5k training. Today’s training had 10 very fast intervals which really seemed to kick my butt by the last couple but I made it through. I did have a personal best for a 5K which was awesome given I’ve been out of it for a week. Was glad to be outside and back into the running routine.
