Kicking It Into High Great After A Day Of Rest

After taking the previous day off due to lack of sleep I was more than ready to go this morning. So much so that I was pretty much in a comfortable high gear for most of the run. It helps to be rockin’ the worship music right along with my run. I have to give credit to those longer hard speed work training days too.

I’m still looking for a few more people that might consider donating to wells in Africa as the year comes to an end and Christmas approaches.

Early Race Pace Run, Sort Of, Before The Men’s Breakfast

How can you say no to these children? With your donation you can make double the impact with our matching funds. $255 to go, meaning another 19 people impacted with clean water. Don’t wait, it’s easy to give now! https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhtIRun #GRMarathon I had to get up at 4ak this morning in order to get my 15 miles in before the Men’s Breakfast. Today the goal was to do the whole run at my anticipated marathon race pace, which I’m targeting a 9:30 min/mile. My pace was a bit too fast, but it was a much shorter run, and given I did a 25K(15.5 mile) race this spring at an 8:30 min/mile pace it’s reasonable to be at a little over 9. I’m…

Why Do I Run? No, Really, Why Do I Run?

For some time now I’ve struggled with continuing to post my runs. I used to tell myself that I was trying to bring awareness to the need for clean water in the world, especially to our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone, Africa. I feel like in the last few months I’ve lost sight of that, or if I’m really honest, it’s because I don’t think anyone else cares about that anymore. everything that has been going on with the pandemic, and now with the needed focus on racial injustice, I feel like people have forgotten about all the needs that existed before. The needs in our world are so many and we can’t all focus on all of them but we need some of…
  • Water, Let Alone Clean Water, Doesn’t Come Easy To Many

For many, even though water may be near it doesn’t mean that’s is easy or safe to get to and it still may not even be safe to drink, but it’s all they may have. As we are in the Christmas season consider giving the gift of clean water. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun Help make safe water accessible: https://timn.me/2020HWI

Struggling Through Another Round Of Speed Work

Another speed work training run to kick my butt this morning. I pretty much struggled to keep up with the fast 7:27 min/mile pace I was supposed to be maintaining for 4 minute intervals. We’ll see how this winter training goes. I have a feeling it’s going to be challenging to get through speed work once the snow falls. I have a hard time with the idea of having to do my speed work on the treadmill, but I guess I can’t rule it out. Given the intensity of the run this morning, other than asking God to get me through another 4 minute interval, my prayer time was pretty much nil. Not exactly how I prefer my runs to go. This is definitely something…

    Two Weeks Since Groundhog

It’s hard to believe that it was 2 weeks ago that I did the Groundhog Day Marathon. It’s been nice to get back into a running routine this past week. Do to so e family things going on I wasn’t able to make it to run with those from the #HWI team. Hopefully I’ll be able to make some time soon. This morning while I listened to the worship music I was thinking about the next #SierraLeone team. I prayed that God would bring just the right people together for this trip. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun
