A bit later of a start this morning, a big change for me to actually run when there is daylight. It’s always interesting trying to get in enough miles running around my small hometown of Le Sueur, MN.

What motivates me? There are a few things. My health, my family, water for the people of Sierra Leone Africa, and time alone with God. Oh, and I am a little crazy and actually enjoy it.
This morning I really just ran to the worship music and went at the pace that felt comfortable. I’m pretty blown away to see how much I improved my pace in just a couple of weeks, where I finished with a 9:50 min/mi pace. I think the most enjoyable part of my run this morning was just being pleasantly surprised by the next worship song. When the next song came on I just got into a zone of focusing on the music and running in time with it. I loved it. When I run in the morning it has 2 main purposes for me, the first is to have a conversation starter to make people aware of the huge need for wells in Africa, and…
I hit my $1000 fundraising goal but there are many other team members still working to reach their goals. This week the number of runs is winding down, with only a short interval run this morning. I’ll do another short easy run on Thursday. It’s hard to believe that the marathon is this week already. No matter how much I train I always still feel a little nervous going into a race. There are many on the team where this will be their first full or half marathon, and the good thing…
Yeah, it’s not pleasant to talk about, but as a runner you generally are aware of the things that can happen while on a long run. And when you aren’t someplace where you can find a well placed #JohnnyBlue things get interesting real quick. I had to cut a couple of miles off my long run this morning in order to literally make a run for the restroom. It didn’t kill my pace, I suppose it maybe helped to some degree. It doesn’t happen very often to me but I’ll have to be a little more cautious in the future.

I took about a week break for recovery after the Groundhog Marathon. Normally I’d start a reverse training following a marathon, but with only 3 months to go before the Riverbank Run I really couldn’t afford the time in order to get a good amount of training in. With some new shoes, and a fresh coat of snow, it felt good to be back out there stopping on the pavement. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RBR
