Feeling Very Out of Shape on My Long Run

After getting through about half of my run in this morning I could tell that the second half was going to be a struggle. Over the past year, even though I haven’t stopped running, my running wasn’t always as consistent and my diet has been all over the map. These two things of course have made a significant impact on my running. I don’t know to what degree all of the craziness that has gone on this past year has been a major instigator of my downfall, but I’m sure it has attributed to it. I need to do better. Maybe that will be my next New Year’s resolution.

Tackling 6 Miles On My Last Day In Virginia

Give the gift of clean water and hope for the future to children and families in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon This was one of those tough morning runs, where you have thoughts of quiting early. I didn’t let those feelings stop me, or use the heat and humidity as an excuse. I slowed down but kept pushing through. The same could be said when we are trying to make an impact on the world. If we let the overwhelming need minimize the significance of that one well that goes in then we risk giving up. It all starts with one. One step, one mile, one day, one village, one well. Over time that one turns into an impact that we couldn’t have even…

Giving Thanks Even Through The Tough Times

Give thanks to the Lord , for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. – 1 Chronicles 16:34 NLT There are days, sometimes even seasons, in our lives that are tough, even painful, and yet we still need to give thanks to God. No matter what valleys we end up in God is there and we can find some blessings in our lives. I’m glad to be reminded today that, despite feeling like everything is falling apart around me, God is still there and He has blessed me with a lot.

    First Recovery Walk

I’ll be honest, this morning was a hard place to be. I should be thankful that I was able to get out the door and get some steps in. It was just hard to enjoy a 50 minute walk when you’re coming from a normal pace of 3x the distance in that time. I know I’ll get back there over time. Hopefully I can start to enjoy the slow down. #HWI #RecoveryWalk

    Running Goals & Purpose

When I start talking with people about my running there is always the question of why I’m running and what my goals are. I’ll be honest that running just kind of happened. Don’t misunderstand, running wasn’t an accident, but rather came out of inspiration from my wife and the fact that a team of runners formed at my church. I wasn’t involved in the Hope Water Team raising money for well in Africa this past year, but do intend on helping this year. When I started running as a way to lose weight, about 115lbs in the past year, it was pretty much because it was the easiest thing for me to find time to do. It is becoming more than that for me. It…

    Embracing The Winter Run

It may be getting colder and beginning to snow but it’s perfectly fine with me. I’m not sure if it’s the Minnesotan in me that allows me to continue with my running through the winter months, but I’m glad that I can stay active and not just stuck inside all winter. I enjoyed getting a report on all the wells our #HWI team helped raise money for last year. It’s pretty amazing to hear how much of an impact we are making. I look forward to seeing what this year’s fundraising will do. If I get a chance I will share a link to the report. #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
