Every morning I get ready to go run I turn to the sink to fill up my water. However much I feel like I need or want. For villages in Africa the choice is not that simple. We have public drinking fountains, bathrooms everywhere. Every dollar Hope Water raises helps to make water more readily available to those in need.

I’m glad to say that I didn’t end up with any significant injuries from my fall on Saturday, other than some scraped up knees. I managed a pretty intensive run this morning. Everything felt great.

Where are the best places for wells to go in Africa? The desire with new wells is to place them where they will have the maximum impact on the community. In many cases this will be near the school in the village. Water has a huge impact on children in Africa.

    Remembering The Daily Struggle In Sierra Leone

    As I wrapped up another 5 miles this morning my thoughts turned to the daily struggle to survive for so many in Sierra Leone. The hardship of trying to gather water, and not even clean water for many, is real. Adding the begin of the spread of #COVID19 in he country and I am deeply concerned about all of those I was blessed with meeting when I visited almost 2 years ago.     A Tough Thursday Interval Run

    When you don’t get a good night’s rest it definitely has an impact on your running. This morning was especially touch trying to keep up with the fast interval paces. Trying to make my way through the snowy sidewalks didn’t help matters either.     Enabling A Community With Clean Water

    When clean water is brought to a community it’s not done suddenly and randomly then moving on to another random village. World Hope(#WHI) works with a carefully chosen village to establish ownership of the well by that village. The village agrees to manage and care for the well in order to serve their community for the long term. The are taught how to maintain and repair the well, and are tasked with protecting it as well. This model follows the saying, “Give a man a fish, feed him today.
