12 Miles For Clean Water On A Brisk Saturday Morning

There is a lot of planning and work involved with putting in a quality well that will sustain a village for years to come, and through long dry seasons. When you support a well through Hope Water you can know that your dollars are impacting generations.

Make a global, and generational, impact by giving to clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

With the River Bank Run now being postponed to the fall I’m not sure what my running will look like. I haven’t stopped my 25K training plan, but there won’t be a race to finish out the training. I’m considering a Virtual Race, but it will be more money spent. We’ll see what this year brings for running.

    Unusual Running For A Wednesday

I waivered on whether to go out and run or break out the treadmill this morning. For me I figure if I’ve ran part of a marathon in a cold downpouring rain I can handle a 50 degree sprinkle for a free miles. In general I will always opt for the outdoors versus the treadmill. I found a new worship running album on Google Play Music this morning which I really enjoyed, and felt God had wanted me to hear that specific selection of songs this morning. I spent a chunk of time praying for the guys in my accountability group. Seems like more than ever lately all of us have felt attacked or at a low point. I’m thankful to have a group of…

Why I Run, Ronkorhun And Hope Water

Even though it was still humid the temperature was for sure cooler this morning when I stepped out the door. I got some good sprints in. I spent some time thinking about the village of #Ronkorhun , and the people I met there, praying that God would revitalize the people and draw them to Him. I also got to thinking about the amazing #HWI community that I am a part of, not only in West Michigan but as a whole. Praying that God would get us all through to the end. I prayed that the love and welcoming nature of the Hope Water teams would be felt by all that join a group run. #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Moving On From A Marathon…It’s Really Not About Me

So today is the 2nd day since completing the marathon, and unfortunately I find myself in more of a discouraged state than in celebration of my accomplishment. There are many things going through my head, many thoughts that cause me to be more disappointed with marathon Sunday. Nothing played out like I had hoped. I ended up coming in behind most of all the other marathon runners from our group despite leading the pack throughout training. I didn’t get to cross the finish line with my running partner, or my kids. I ended up walking most of the last 4.5 miles. I ended up going to the medical aid tent after crossing the finish line. I have no photo of me crossing the finish line….

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Being Thankful For My Health, And Focusing On Others

This morning I got myself to a place where I could honestly see that I was letting myself get wrapped up in my own pity party. I was losing sight of the opportunity to be thankful for my health and be focusing on those less fortunate. The big question came to mind of why I am running. Am I running for myself? Are my runs all about how far or fast I can run? It seems pretty obvious that I got myself far from where I should be. I turned things around this morning and spent some time in praise for how God has blessed me, and especially spent time lifting friends and family up in prayer that have bigger needs than me. #HWI #WhyIRun
