Tackling Another Evening Speed Work Training Run
After a long day of hanging out with the family and driving home from Ohio I managed to get out and get my training run done for the day. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have it in me to get the run done. It was only a 30 minute run so I figured it wouldn’t be all bad. I generally hate doing evening runs, as I prefer an early morning run to start off the day. I’m actually not a morning person at all but I hate the feeling of supper sitting in my stomach during a run.
All things considered, even meeting up with a skunk on the trail, the run went as well as can be expected. I’m just glad I got out there and got it done.

Partner with me to put it wells in Africa, only $450 to go to hit my goal. https://timn.me/HWI2022
@tim that is a SERIOUS HEADTORCH. What is that???
@liamlonsdale most of my runs are in the dark, and I have a couple of bad spills due to not having good light, so I make sure I have a good headlamp. That one isn’t really a top of the line headlamp like $16 on Amazon. Basically one of these: https://a.co/d/162pDn9
@tim wait. 18,000 lumens?! EIGHTEEN THOUSAND — isn’t that like a car headlamp??? Does this thing really put out 18,000 lumens?Aside from that — I am 100% with you on lighting up the night runs. I recently switched from the Petzl Nao+ to the Petzl IKO and I LOVE how lightweight it is. And the 100 (!!!) lumen mode is just about bright enough for trails in the dark.
@liamlonsdale I’m not sure it actually hits 18,000 lumens, but it is bright and lights things up well. 😄
@tim in theory 18,000 lumens should be able to cast light over ~12 football fields
@tim a halogen bulb in a car headlight usually emits around 1200 lumens!
@liamlonsdale ha, yeah, given the cheap price of some of these headlamps I think those numbers are probably a bunch of garbage. For the price though I get a great amount of light. 😉
