Increasing The Effort, Starting to Recover

While both recovering from some injury and trying to find off a cold that has hit the rest of my family, I have been trying to increase my running effort slowly. I did feel a little bit of foot pain after the run today but not too bad. I’m hoping that I can get back into a better routine of running and stick to the training plan, it’s been a a challenge lately.

Running In The Rain, Preparing For Anything Come Race Day

Today was the last training run before the #RiverBankRun and it was a rainy one at that. I haven’t looked at the forecast for Saturday but when it comes to races you have to be ready for anything. 2 years ago the Grand Rapids Marathon started in a down pour. If you are going to be training for a race your going to he better off going out and training in all weather. If you’ve avoided running in the rain your whole training and it ends up rainy on race day you are going to have a toug time. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

    Short Easy Tuesday Training Run

The #Endomondo training plan called for a short easy run this morning, which really meant for a much slower pace then I ended up averaging. Of course I started out on the right track but as my running time increased so do my speed. It still felt easy, and my heart rate reflected that. The real take away is that I need to work on controlling my pace. I’m pretty sure I can’t sustain that sort of pace for a full marathon. During my run I was reminded of the friends and family I know with medical needs, and lifted them and their families up in prayer. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

80 Degree Morning Run With The Blessing of Water

Sporting the Slip n Slide 5K shirt on my training run this morning. It was a hot one at 5am, I can’t imagine doing my run later today. Running in the heat took me back to our short 3 mile run in Freetown #SierraLeone and remembering #WhyIRun for those in need. I was blessed to have 2 fresh bottles of water available to me while I ran. That is a luxury not found by many in Sierra Leone. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water Hudsonville, Michigan, United States of America

Running, Community, And Living With Purpose

I read this story tonight and it got me thinking about the journey I’ve been on but even more the HWI Daybreak community that I’ve been blessed to be apart of. Running has become for me something I couldn’t even have fathomed a little more than a year ago. Running for me is apart of who I am, and the relationships I’m building are a huge part of that as well. I hope that my running and my journey can be a light of Hope in the lives of people I share it with.

Running For Wells In Africa Means Lives Are Changed

While I have been involved with Hope Water International, I have seen first hand the lives that are changed. Obviously, being able to travel to Sierra Leone Africa I saw what kind of life change can occur for people there. However, the other place that lives are changed are right here within the #HWI Team. The support of each other in the HWI community has helped people accomplish more than they had ever thought. That is another reason #WhyIRun with the HWI Team. When you have a group that is on a mission to show love to people half way around the world that they may never know, that loves spills over into the group itself. #Run4Water #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
