God Equips

I’ve heard it said many times “God equips the called, He doesn’t necessarily call the equipped.”. The statement from my devotions this morning reminded me of that fact. Recently in our small group we talked about the storms we have in life. I wonder if at times God allows these storms in effort to equip us for something more?

    Just A Short One

Well, here I am in the wee hours of the night. So the pleasant act of IMing and playing music caught me up tonight. I pretty much got my taxes done, and it looks like a good tax return. Too bad I have debt, I go out any buy one of them fancy 5G iPods, πŸ™‚ Well, I’m hoping in the next couple of years to have all the small debt paid off. Then it’ll just be down to the big stuff like the car & house. I didn’t get my devotions in this morning like I had hoped, was up too late again of course. However, I wasn’t going to let my day go by without spending some time in the Word. So I…
  • Time To Get Serious: Our God is “Heavy”

Matthew 17:1-8, Jesus and the mount of transfiguration. When Jesus took a few of the Disciples up to the mountain top, I see two things that happened. One, is that He revealed His glory as God. It has me thinking about all the ways that God reveals Himself to us, whether through His Word, through others, or through things that happen. We have many opportunities to see God in the world. The second thing that happened, was that the disciples wanted to pitch tents and stay there experiencing this great event. However, Jesus said no. He didn’t want what happened to stay there, but wanted the Disciples to share what happened with others. We can sometimes take the times & things that God reveals to…

A Christian Husband’s Greatest Calling In Marriage

As Christian husband’s I think we easily fail to remember the greatest calling we have in our marriage. We can’t out-love God. Christ loved us so much that he died for us, and that’s the sort of love we are called to have for our wives. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her – Ephesians 5:25 NLT

    When The Well Runs Dry…

That title actually has a couple of meaning this morning. As I drove myself to work this morning it kind of hit how spiritually dry I feel today. This comes from the lack of reading and morning quite time I’ve had for most of the week. Oh how I long for those days of having a couple hours before I head off to work to enjoy the morning and spend some time in the word. And to the times I had to read a chapter in a good book before I drifted off to sleep. These are things I’m really hoping to get back in my routine. It’s basically come to light that I am a total creature of habit/routine. Once I can get into…

    Priority Number 1

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. – Matthew 6:33 NLT Our world tries to offer us a lot of things that distract us from what we should be pursuing. It goes without saying that when we are pursuing God our “needs” change. Many of what we think we need are merely wants, and God sometimes blesses us with those things as well.
