What Has Today Brought?
I’d haveto say that all-in-all it was a decent day. I would have preferred to get a bit farther along in my data-entry, I spent a good portion of the day generating mailing lists. I would have to say that about the best parts of today were getting up early and having some good devotion time and breakfast before I headed off to work. I think both of those things have proven to make my mornings more productive. This evening wasn’t too bad. I didn’t get quite as much accomplished tonight as I had hoped but I did manage to have a rather tasty steak and potato supper, I also began creating an actual budget I hope to be sticking by. How fitting that today’s topic is worship, with having the first youth praise team practice yesterday. The scripture passage for this study is John 4:19-26, Jesus’ meeting with the Samaritan woman. They have a conversation of where the Jews & the Samaritans disagree on where to worship God. Jesus made it very clear that after His coming He was going to clarify this. Worshiping God is not about the place, it is about us meeting with God individually and worshiping Him “in spirit and in truth”. When we come to Him in time of worship it is about an internal connect between God and us, where all worldly and material things are put aside. Ephesians 1:1-6, today’s study talks mostly of how great and self-sufficient God is. It is pointed out that just by the very complexity and detail of nature, God shows his power and greatness. God didn’t have to create us, but it pleased Him to do so, this is also what gives us hope. God didn’t have to make a way for salvation, but He did because of his love for us. Well, the thoughts for this morning are not very long but our response to God’s grace and self-sufficient power ought to be one of praise and thanksgiving. Psalm 11:4-7 – The scripture for today talks about God’s Holiness and our sinfulness. I think it becomes so easy, and wrongfully so, for Christians to begin to rank sin. The reality of it is that in God’s eyes there is no one that is more sinful than another. I know we can think that as Christian were better, and not nescesarily boasting in that, but we think those that maybe aren’t Christians are so much worse than we are. Boy are we deceived. God is Holy and perfect and can’t stand the hint of sin. As Christians the difference for us, as compared to someone that isn’t a Christian, is that we have Christ standing in place for us. Ok, so I’ve been pretty out of it blog-wise the past week. It’s not so much an issue of not wanting to blog. It’s just an issue of having the right time to do it. I’m thinking I’m going to work in a good chunk of time tomorrow to catch up on everything that’s been going on. I think my problem too is that I really like doing my post right before I go to bed. This is good and bad as my day is done but I usually spend a good chunk of time writing and don’t get to bed as soon as I really need to. Ok, so today was a pretty excellent day. It’s amazing that God can be so good to us despite our downfalls. Well, this morning I found out something pretty crazy. One of my matches on eHarmony just happens to be someone that I at least know of. I can’t recall actually meeting her at anytime. The thing of it is that I have worked with her sister. And I know her Dad. She’s not a paying member of eHarmony but that’s just fine. We’ve already started to chat a little on MSN. I don’t know where this will lead if anywhere. I have no expectations but I’m looking forward to getting to know her. I already know enough about her that I know I’m looking…
