Who’s Your Best Friend?

When you simply hang out together … when you carve out time for your most important relationship… when you make a point of sharing the little day-to-day moments… the results of that in your marriage are profound. – Biblical Secrets to a Happy Marriage

This morning during my devotions time I was challenged with how I think about my wife. I’d heard other couples talking about their spouse being their best friend but I’d never really given it much thought myself and sort thought friends were in a different group than my wife. My best friend was a guy that I have served with in ministry for years and was the best man in my wedding. However if there is anyone in my life that should be classified as the “best” shouldn’t that hands down be my wife. She’s the one day in and day out sees me at my best and worst and yet still loves me a chooses to do this life with me. I’ve got some great friends but no one can compare to my life partner, my wife. If your first thought when you hear “best friend” is not your spouse then I think you have some work to do.

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. – Ecclesiastes 4:9‭-‬10

    While Running Anything Can Happen

This week I was pretty off on my #training but I got my long run in today since I’ve got an all day conference tomorrow. It felt good to be back out running and I even felt good about my pace, for an easy long run. I’m not sure if it was God leading me but I started thinking about Sierra Leone and the next team going and wondered if I should consider leading the team. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water #HessLakeRun #SierraLeone

    Beginning The Next Marathon Training

This morning officially started my next marathon training. As a ran I couldn’t help but think about the #HWI team and all the new people that may have a lot to overcome this year as they prepare for their first half or full marathon. Also those that have already sustained an injury this year and are on the mend. My prayers were not only for the team and God’s protection and strength, as they overcome each step of the journey, but also how God would use me this year to help the team through their training and continue to slbe used to further the cause. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Nearing The End Of The 25K Training

I’m on the taper part of my training as the #RiverBankRun approaches this Saturday. After not running for a few days I wondered how this morning would even go. It started off slow but by the end I was cruisin’. I managed to get another PR this morning which feels like a good place to be going into race week. My plan right now will be to stick with the pacers on Saturday. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

    Another Nice 8.5 Mile Run

It was nice easy run this morning. The weather was a nice cool 40 degrees, and not much of any wind. I don’t know that I’ll have the chance to return to Sierra Leone, but I am honored that I was able to go and get to know some amazing people there. I think about them often and pray that the wells will continue to increase in number and make huge impacts for generations to come. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun Make an impact on the world, give to wells in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Knocking Out Some Short Miles Along The Potomac

Help bring more wells to Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverRunning Had a good run in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and along the Potomac River this morning. Sometimes it can be challenging navigating new territory as a runner. It amazes me how packed things are here in Old Town Alexandria compared to the neighborhood back in Hudsonville, Michigan.
