Our organization is so close to reaching our goal and being able to bring clean water to 21,250 people in Africa. I’m still $780 away from hitting my goal before the Grand Rapids Marathon on October 15th. I hope there are those that would be willing to partner with me to bring clean water to those that need it.

Focus And Determination Required For This Training Run

Today’s training run was an intense interval run that pretty much required my complete focus. I only had 30 seconds to “recover” between my 6 minute long 8 minutes/mile pace intervals, and there were 8 of those. I had quite a few misses, and I was short on my final distance by about .02 miles, but overall I still knocked it out with a good time. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Early Race Pace Run, Sort Of, Before The Men’s Breakfast

How can you say no to these children? With your donation you can make double the impact with our matching funds. $255 to go, meaning another 19 people impacted with clean water. Don’t wait, it’s easy to give now! https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhtIRun #GRMarathon I had to get up at 4ak this morning in order to get my 15 miles in before the Men’s Breakfast. Today the goal was to do the whole run at my anticipated marathon race pace, which I’m targeting a 9:30 min/mile. My pace was a bit too fast, but it was a much shorter run, and given I did a 25K(15.5 mile) race this spring at an 8:30 min/mile pace it’s reasonable to be at a little over 9. I’m…

    Short Easy Tuesday Training Run

The #Endomondo training plan called for a short easy run this morning, which really meant for a much slower pace then I ended up averaging. Of course I started out on the right track but as my running time increased so do my speed. It still felt easy, and my heart rate reflected that. The real take away is that I need to work on controlling my pace. I’m pretty sure I can’t sustain that sort of pace for a full marathon. During my run I was reminded of the friends and family I know with medical needs, and lifted them and their families up in prayer. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    Hitting The Training Run Hard

Today was a short assessment training run, basically 12 minutes of giving it all you’ve got. It’s preceded by, and follows, a 5 minute warmup & cool down run respectively. I did an out-and-back while giving myself some distance for a final cool down walk to home. We’ll see what this means for my final target pace for the Groundhog Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus I’m looking forward to representing Hope Water at the Groundhog Marathon again. My hope is to keep on target with the pace my training plan estimated and to complete it without having to walk. However, I’ve also considered intentionally doing walk/run intervals to ensure that overall I finish with a good time. We’ll see where I land. Give water, give…

Hitting The 20 Mile Mark, And I Feel Fine

Wow, what a great 20 mile training run today. That may sound crazy but with the cool weather and the great company of Harvey, Jason, and John it made for a good time. I can definitely tell I ran 20 miles, a little over actually, but I feel very good. If I can tackle the coming 26.2 mile marathon in the next few weeks like today I should be able to finish in a much better state than last year. I still need some more partners for my #HWI fundraiser. Remember your contribution will be doubled with our our matching funds. #HWI #GRMarathon #WaterIsLife #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate Now – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
