Gracious And Attractive Conversations

Colossians 4:5‭-‬6 NLT

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. – Colossians 4:5‭-‬6 NLT

As believers we are called to speak with grace and love to those that are non-believers. We cannot hold a non-believer to any calling that God has made, that is not our place.

Getting The Saturday Long Run Done

We all have those off days, for me today was one of those. The second half of my run was more challenging than last week. Given I PR’d for a half marathon I was surprised by today. I really can’t complain, I was supposed to be running a 9:40 min/mi pace. So in reality I was pushing when I shouldn’t have been. Some times I think about giving up the focus on pace and even getting faster and just go out and enjoy the run for what it is. I’m sure at some point I’ll get there, I’m just not sure if I’m ready to be at that place yet. When you are running for almost 2 hours you have a lot of time to…

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Beating The Urge To Go Back To Bed

A little windy this morning but it made for a nice cool run. I didn’t feel like I slept very well so it was hard to get going this morning. The thought crossed my mind a couple of times to just skip the run today and go back to bed. I couldn’t get myself to do that though. I know that once I actually get moving things turn around. Also, it’s the best time for me to get one-on-one with God with little distraction. It’s hard to believe that the #GRMarathon is only like 6 weeks away. I still have some fundraising to do for #HWI and I’d really like to get to $2000 but that will be a big challenge for sure. #Run4Water Hudsonville,…

    What’s Up With Me Today…

Of course, anyone that read my blog earlier, or will read my earlier post, will know that my day started out kind of crappy. Let’s just say that my mind and emotions got the better of me. Thanks to God for great friends and encouragers. I’m not sure if perhaps Caristy read my blog and told John to invite me out with the seminary students for lunch but it made a huge difference in my day. I won’t doubt that this was just God at work. I also got some very encouraging words from Cassie, thanks. I kind of shared breifly tonight with Andrew about the issue I have, and what caused all my problems this morning. Here it is for all to see. I…
  • Latest Life Update…

Well a little more time has past since my last blog post. I actually had an idea the other day about starting a picture of the day posting, along with a brief highlight of the day. It would be a way to give you a little visual into this new point in my life, and a way to get some regular updates going again. I think the reason that my postings have become more rare than they started out to be is the fact that I have someone in my life that I can so easily share my thoughts with. I guess I just don’t feel quite so lonely, as I did before. I know that I always had friends that I could call and…
