The Half Marathon Training Taper Begins

I’m now on the taper for the half marathon in a week and a half. This morning was supposed to be just an easy run but as is my m.o. I pushed it a bit beyond an easy run. It was surprisingly a fairly cool morning. Enjoyed listening to worship music and lifting up friends, co-workers, and family in prayer. I also couldn’t have a run without thinking about and praying for those in that I met while there.

New Well in Waterloo, Traveling to Freetown

Today was pretty easy-going as we packed up at the hotel in Makeni to head to Waterloo & Freetown, making the first step towards the trek home. We had a nice long ride to Waterloo where we were going to see some of the final drilling stages of a new well. The well was being put in right near a school in a very poor area of Waterloo. Since it was near a school, and want looked like a community β€œpark” there were a lot of kids around. I think there were a lot of people in general because of watching the well drilling. We’re there for about 3.5 hours before we started to see some water flowing from the well. They eventually got the…

    5K+ Christmas Morning Training Run

After opening presents with the kids, and helping them get their gifts ready to play with, I headed out for a short Christmas run. I pushed it a bit as I wanted to make sure I wasn’t gone from the family too long. The kids were up before 5am this morning so it was good that I didn’t chance it and try to hey my run in before they woke up. I’m thankful for how God has blessed our family. I’m looking forward to more of a joy filled day. I pray that no matter what the situation any of us are facing this Christmas that we can all still have joy and thankfulness for the greatest gift we have received in Jesus Christ. #HWI…

The Defining Moment For Why I Run

My run this morning consisted of a combo of an #Endomondo easy and a #HWI hard Tuesday run. Though many might see me as not knowing the meaning of an easy run, ha. I spent a lot of time reflecting on my time in Sierra Leone and the defining moment that occurred and encapsulates why I run. How do you process, and what action do you take when a woman is so desperate for water that she wants you to take her child away so that they have a chance to survive? That was it for me, #WaterIsLife and for many they would do something unthinkable for their children, let alone themselves, to survive. People tell me I’m crazy for running a marathon. Is anything…
