Today Started Out Good, But Ended With Me Dropping Facebook Officially
This morning I ran 5+ miles. It was a great time of prayer and thinking of the people in Sierra Leone and being concerned that with #COVID-19 putting people out of work will raising money for more wells be put at risk. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun The day ended with me deactivating my Facebook account, with no real intent on returning, out of frustration with people that call themselves Christ followers, people that I once called friends. Their behavior towards the pandemic makes them appear like they have little regard for human life, or caring about others more than themselves. I think what’s even worse than jumping the Facebook ship is the fact that a lot of these people are also connected with my running group,…
Struggling Through Another Round Of Speed Work
Another speed work training run to kick my butt this morning. I pretty much struggled to keep up with the fast 7:27 min/mile pace I was supposed to be maintaining for 4 minute intervals. We’ll see how this winter training goes. I have a feeling it’s going to be challenging to get through speed work once the snow falls. I have a hard time with the idea of having to do my speed work on the treadmill, but I guess I can’t rule it out. Given the intensity of the run this morning, other than asking God to get me through another 4 minute interval, my prayer time was pretty much nil. Not exactly how I prefer my runs to go. This is definitely something…
Completed My First Marathon…
Today was a pretty big day for me. I completed my first ever marathon. It was a tough day, with the down pouring rain, wind gusts of 20 some miles per hour, and getting cramps in my legs that slowed me down, I ended the race pretty discouraged. Not to mention I ended up having to be taken to the medic tent after crossing the finish line, which was something my running partner and I had talked about not wanting to have happen to us. Let’s just say it was a pretty humbling experience. I’m so thankful for all of the encouragement from the many Hope Water International runners the kept encouraging me on the way to the finish line. I especially appreciate Ron Bussa and Nick…
Back At It After A Long Weekend Break
It was a little bit of a struggle starting out this morning after having a long weekend of no running. Felt better by the end of my run. Through one of the worship songs this morning I was prompted to pray specifically for the father’s of Sierra Leone. There are many women and children that have been abandoned because of cultural stigmatism. My prayer this morning was for a revival in the hearts of the husbands and fathers of Sierra Leone. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water #SierraLeone Hudsonville, Michigan, United States of America
Setting Goals And Going After Them
Setting goals is fun and games. Going after them is another matter. Without perspiration to match your inspiration, your dream imagined will turn into a dream deferred. Chase The Lion Something that I’ve had a hard time with over the years is having clear goals to work towards. Even in my job it’s most often been a matter of just getting direction from others or meeting the immediate needs. This seems counter to my planner personality but it’s never been the short term, knowing what needs to get done, planning that has been my challenge. It’s never been a real priority for me to have goals and a plan for seeing those goals met. I think I’ve always had ideas that have come to mind…
