Kicking Things Up A Notch

Today my training run was kicked up a notch with some interval speed work. It definitely tested how recovered I am from the marathon. It’s been awhile since I have done any high intensity runs of substantial length. These sorts of runs do make it hard to spend a lot of time focusing on prayer unfortunately. It did however bring to mind during some of the intense intervals and help to keep me pushing on.

A Run Focusing On The Physical Needs Of Others

Had a sluggish start this morning, but I pushed myself and got things improved my the end of my run. I did miss most of the rain, just got caught in some sprinkles during the last quarter mile. Most of my focus though was on those I know that have physical needs, including our Enable The Children sponsored child. It seems that the physical needs in our world almost match that of the spiritual need. And yet we see time and again that God uses those physical needs to bring people into relationship with Him. Most of need a jolt every now and then to help us remember what’s most important in this life here. #HWI #ETC #EnableTheChildren #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Fighting The Urge To Just Go Back To Bed

It was tough to get going this morning. After another rough night with my daughter not being able to sleep I had all I could do to not just go back to bed after the alarm went off. Once I actually got the pavement my pace was a slow start for sure. I’m happy to say though that by the end things had turned around. I did enjoy a good time in prayer and worship. I not only lifted up some recent needs, and praise, but I also lifted up the people in Sierra Leone that are still struggling to gather clean water for their families. I also lifted up our Enable The Children sponsored child and his family. I know that life is a…

A Rough Evening Long Run In Indiana

Attempting to do a long run in the evening after a full day of activities with the family proved to be a bad idea. While I started off strong I just totally ran out of steam after a little over 14 miles. My overall average was still better than I would have thought, but that might just be for the fact that I was really going too fast to start. The unfamiliar roads, darkness, and rolling hills also didn’t help. I think the biggest thing I can say is that it is much harder doing these long runs alone. I won’t say that it can’t be done, but having the company of a fellow runner makes a huge difference. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to…
