Life Change And Purpose Through Running

When I look back just 3 years ago it’s hard to believe that I would be awake at 5:45am cooling down from a 4 mile run. Even in my high school days I wasn’t a morning person, not saying that I am a morning person now. I honestly owe a lot to my wife and for their part in giving me purpose in my runs. God used them to make a huge change in my life. I don’t just run because I enjoy it I run with a purpose.

    Kicking It Into High Gear

I felt pretty good starting out this morning with a speedy starting pace. It was a short run this morning so I kicked it up a notch s bit above the easy pace that was called for. I love it a couple of the worship songs come on that talk about running or moving, those really get me fired up. One thing is for certain, winter running is certainly my thing. I’m not sure if I’d go so far as to say that I would choose winter over summer, but it comes close. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Fighting The Urge To Just Go Back To Bed

It was tough to get going this morning. After another rough night with my daughter not being able to sleep I had all I could do to not just go back to bed after the alarm went off. Once I actually got the pavement my pace was a slow start for sure. I’m happy to say though that by the end things had turned around. I did enjoy a good time in prayer and worship. I not only lifted up some recent needs, and praise, but I also lifted up the people in Sierra Leone that are still struggling to gather clean water for their families. I also lifted up our Enable The Children sponsored child and his family. I know that life is a…

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Getting It Done, 17 Mile Marathon Training Run

Had some nice early morning weather for my 17 miles. I was so grateful to have the #HWI water stations out by the time I got through about half of my run. It was nice to not have to figure out how to drop water somewhere. It was a tougher run going it alone. I definitely appreciate being able to run with the group and visit while running. It takes your mind off of the run and helps to keep you motivated. There were people out on the trails by the 2nd half of my run so it was nice to have people to greet and get some encouraging words at times. #GRMarathon #Run4Water

No One Cares If I Get My Run In…To Run Or To Sleep

I have to believe that every runner has those days where you have to sell yourself on the idea of getting your run in. I enjoy my running time, but there are those days where I get up and think to myself, “No one cares if I go out and run, I could just go back to bed”, but when I think about why I am running the idea of not going out quickly fades away. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverBankRun I run, you give, I match it, it’s as easy as that.
