A Rough Evening Long Run In Indiana

Attempting to do a long run in the evening after a full day of activities with the family proved to be a bad idea. While I started off strong I just totally ran out of steam after a little over 14 miles. My overall average was still better than I would have thought, but that might just be for the fact that I was really going too fast to start. The unfamiliar roads, darkness, and rolling hills also didn’t help. I think the biggest thing I can say is that it is much harder doing these long runs alone. I won’t say that it can’t be done, but having the company of a fellow runner makes a huge difference.

    Struggling Through A Solo 15 Miles Training Run

    It’s tough doing long training runs all by yourself, and 15 miles is no joke. I pretty much got my peak pace at around 10 miles. The final 5 miles was quite a struggle at times, and my lap pace times reflected it. It’s hard to imagine that I’m going to need to go another 11.2 miles beyond what I ran today come marathon day.     Being Thankful For My Health, And Focusing On Others

    This morning I got myself to a place where I could honestly see that I was letting myself get wrapped up in my own pity party. I was losing sight of the opportunity to be thankful for my health and be focusing on those less fortunate. The big question came to mind of why I am running. Am I running for myself? Are my runs all about how far or fast I can run? It seems pretty obvious that I got myself far from where I should be. I turned things around this morning and spent some time in praise for how God has blessed me, and especially spent time lifting friends and family up in prayer that have bigger needs than me. #HWI #WhyIRun

    Starting Off The Week With A Long Wet Training Run

    Despite the rain and chill, caused by a little breeze, it was decent enough to get out for a longer run. The weather was still a big motivator to keep going, which unfortunately caused my pace to be faster than what the training plan called for, but oh well. #Endomondo I enjoyed a run full of #worship music, but I felt so overwhelmed by the needs of friends and family, physically; emotionally; and spiritually, that it was very hard to focus and being very specific in my prayers. Perhaps this morning was supposed to be more about worship then bringing the never-ending mound of needs to Him. I’m still hoping to continue to raise money for more wells.     Battling The Cold And Wind

    It was a tough early morning training run today. I can definitely tell that I haven’t eating well and getting enough sleep lately. I really need to reevaluate what I’m doing outside of my training runs if I’m going to even hope to complete another marathon.     Warming Up With The Pace

    When you are a runner the colder winter temperatures are either a motivator or a demotivator. You are either going to be motivated to keep going, and keep warm, or you are going to be demotivated to not even step out the door. For me, most days my decision to run has little to so with the outside temperature, or weather. My decision usually depends on how tired I feel and if I want to go back to bed. Once I get out the door, then the outside temperature is my motivation for how fast I’m going to run. This morning the single digit temp helped me kick things up a notch.
