Final Training Run Before The Groundhog Marathon

Things were a bit off, and out of the normal, this morning. It actually started last night as I discovered that the service was apparently down, which meant I couldn’t load my training plan to see what my last run would be. Then this morning the Endomondo app on my phone wouldn’t even load right. Since my smartwatch came with built-in, and I’ve been syncing data there, I decided to give it a go on my run. It worked out well enough, except the watch and phone apps don’t talk to each other in real-time which meant I had no audio coaching and no real-time stats, including heart rate, pace, etc. Looking at my final stats I knocked the run out with flying colors, which maybe says more that I don’t need to rely on all the feedback when I’m running. Perhaps I’ve run long enough that I can just run to run.

This Saturday I’ll be wearing my Hope Water blue at the Groundhog Marathon as I continue to spread the word about the need for clean water. Will you partner with me to bring clean water to Africa? https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    Thanksgiving Training Run

Got my own little 10k+ Turkey Trot in this morning. Staying on course as I train for the #GroundhogDayMarathon in February. Looking to represent the #HWI team at that event. After having my water freezing on me this morning I can already tell this is going to be an interesting training season. Oh, it looks like I happen to #PR this morning, which wasn’t my intention, but it happened so that made for a nice way to start off the #Thanksgiving day. • Sticking With The Pacers

I wanted to make sure I hit my target based on how my training went. I decided before the race even started that I was going to stick with the pacers. That plan paid off. Even though my target pace was supposed to be 8:42 min/mi my choices for pacers was 8:30 or 9:00 and so I decided to stick myself in between, but really I just stuck with the 8:30 pacers the whole way, mostly. After hitting mile 10 on Butterworth Street there was a long stretch that was all downhill. I took advantage of that hill and passed the 8:40 pacers. I maintained that position probably up to around mile 14 which is when the mental part of my run had to kick…

Praying For Rain And Wells In Sierra Leone

As I felt the light rain coming down as I ran I couldn’t help but think of #SierraLeone and the long drive season they, putting a strain on water supplies. I especially thought of the village of #Ronkorhun and their struggles for water. I continue to pray for the rains needed to grow their crops and restore their water supplies. I also pray that Ronkorhun would see the miracle of a new drilled well in their village sooner than anyone could have expected. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Wells in Africa

    Running…My Physical And Spiritual Race

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. – Philippians 3:13‭-‬14 NLT As I’ve entered into day 3 of my 5K training, more like day 2 but I’m sticking with the schedule, this verse reminds me that there is more beyond just the physical race that I’m preparing for. It’s easy for us to lose sight of how God is working in our lives, especially with how crazy our world is getting. I’m thankful for these reminders and the hope I have in…

Enabling A Community With Clean Water

When clean water is brought to a community it’s not done suddenly and randomly then moving on to another random village. World Hope(#WHI) works with a carefully chosen village to establish ownership of the well by that village. The village agrees to manage and care for the well in order to serve their community for the long term. The are taught how to maintain and repair the well, and are tasked with protecting it as well. This model follows the saying, “Give a man a fish, feed him today. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.”. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
