So yesterday I happened to PR for a half marathon. The “problem” is that it was only a half marathon training run for a half I’m doing in July. My Endomondo training plan has my goal set for a 9:22min/mi pace come race day. Well I ended up blowing that time out of the water by finishing a training run half marathon with an 8:49min/mi pace. So I think my current goal is too conservative. It probably doesn’t help that I continually keep pushing myself beyond the training plan paces. I have a hard time managing my pace.

Let’s hope that I can continue to get myself ready for the upcoming half marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #GroundhogMarathon #Garmin #Running
Pretty cool to hit a PR tonight. #PR2018

Don’t wait, it’s easy to give now! https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhtIRun #GRMarathon I had to get up at 4ak this morning in order to get my 15 miles in before the Men’s Breakfast. Today the goal was to do the whole run at my anticipated marathon race pace, which I’m targeting a 9:30 min/mile. My pace was a bit too fast, but it was a much shorter run, and given I did a 25K(15.5 mile) race this spring at an 8:30 min/mile pace it’s reasonable to be at a little over 9. I’m…
I had the pleasure of finishing out the last 10 miles of my run with my #HWI teammate Justin. It’s so nice to have both the motivation, and distraction, of someone else on the longer runs. It really helps melt the miles away. This is Justin’s first year with Hope Water, and his first marathon. I enjoyed being able to share my previous years of experience and what I’ve learned. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon If you haven’t already donated to Hope Water please consider donating to Justin’s fundraiser: https://www.hopewaterinternational.org/fundraisers/888
So today is the 2nd day since completing the marathon, and unfortunately I find myself in more of a discouraged state than in celebration of my accomplishment. There are many things going through my head, many thoughts that cause me to be more disappointed with marathon Sunday. Nothing played out like I had hoped. I ended up coming in behind most of all the other marathon runners from our group despite leading the pack throughout training. I didn’t get to cross the finish line with my running partner, or my kids. I ended up walking most of the last 4.5 miles. I ended up going to the medical aid tent after crossing the finish line. I have no photo of me crossing the finish line….
