Just Another Picture of Me, But That’s Not #WhyIRun

For awhile the running pictures have been of me followed by my thoughts about my running. What has been lost quite a bit is the the focus on running to bring clean water to Africa.

For a long time I quit including my run pace with my finishing photo, and that was to take the potential focus off how well I was running, to try and keep the focus on running for clean water. The new running app doesn’t give me that opinion anymore which is probably fine as my running speed isn’t so great these days.

I also used to use pictures taken from my trip to Sierra Leone, Africa and that was for sure a way to keep the focus on clean water and try keep the focus off of my running. I’ve gotten quite far from that the past year. I’ll blame the pandemic, a little, but I know that pandemic or not I can still let my focus remaining on bringing awareness to people of the great need for clean water.

Just Another Saturday 13.1 Mile Run

The need for access to clean water in Sierra Leone hasn’t been met so why would my running stop. Every run I take gives me an opportunity to share about the remaining need for clean water in Africa. I also hope that my commitment inspires others. This holiday season remember those less fortunate and make an impact. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Give the gift of clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Getting In Some Miles Early On A Wet Wednesday

As I was running in the rain this morning it got me thinking about the hardship that the rainy season causes for many in Sierra Leone. Like those that work for Enable The Children, the children with disabilities ministry, and those that #ETC supports. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun It’s crazy to think that something like rain, which should be a blessing to a people in desperate need of clean water, could cause hardship. For many though, the rainy season makes it challenging to get around and do things like sell their goods at the market. A well also brings safety during the rainy season both from a health standpoint as well as from the risks of trying to gather water from moving water like streams. Help…

All Registered For The Next Journey

I’m officially registered for the GR Half Marathon. Looking forward to the journey and the community! What a great night for the Hope Water kick off! I’ll be doing the half marathon, which seems crazy, but my wife is my inspiration. I also can’t wait to be a part of the the amazing work God is doing with the Hope Water Team to provide clean water to people in Africa. So proud of my wife who is joining the team headed to Africa in a week to dedicate some of the wells the team helped to put in and serve the people.

Running Is My One On One Time

It’s still a little bit to get used to doing these longer “midweek” runs on a Monday instead of a Tuesday, but I think I’m getting into a groove with it. It’s nice to have a long “easy” run on a Monday where is can spend a lot of time listening to worship music, listening for God’s direction, and presenting the needs of friends and family to Him. I can honestly say that getting our for a morning run has not only been good for my physical health but it’s had a huge impact on my spiritual health as well. I do enjoy group runs but there is something to be said for having time where it’s just you, the pavement, and God. I spent…

I Might Need To Adjust My Half Marathon Training

So yesterday I happened to PR for a half marathon. The “problem” is that it was only a half marathon training run for a half I’m doing in July. My Endomondo training plan has my goal set for a 9:22min/mi pace come race day. Well I ended up blowing that time out of the water by finishing a training run half marathon with an 8:49min/mi pace. So I think my current goal is too conservative. It probably doesn’t help that I continually keep pushing myself beyond the training plan paces. I have a hard time managing my pace.
