Being Prepared For Parenting
As much as I’d like to think that I was ready to parent the fact is that I owe a lot to my wife. If it wasn’t for my wife’s knowledge and experience my kids wouldn’t have had the experiences they have had so far. I’m still learning everyday day how to be a better parent.
Slogging Through 4 Miles On A Humid August Morning
Trying to go through even an “easy” run when the humidity is high is a challenge. When I get done I feel like I’ve taken the grossest shower anyone could ever take. #HWI #KCC #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRHalfMarathon #RiverBankRun
The Keyword is “Since” Not “If”
As a follow up to my previous post it’s important that we remember that everything we are called to do as a Christ follower is in the context of “since” and not “if”. What’s the difference? Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraint of Special Needs Individuals
After discovering the realities of seclusion and restraint with our autistic daughter at school my wife an I are learning more about the realities of our schools and culture in how kids with special needs are being handled. We don’t disagree that something needs to be done, but there are alternatives that are safer and better for everyone. A recent podcast, LOMAH Special Needs Podcast (#39 – Restraint & Seclusion of Special Needs Individuals), that my wife an I listened gave very compelling alternatives. Use our alternative physical techniques of blocking. If you can restrain someone you can block someone. Kim Sanders – Ukeru Systems
