First Long Run Of The New Year

I’m thankful for the nice weather this evening, and for making it back safely from Minnesota, to get my long run in tonight. It was a tough one doing it at night and all alone. You don’t realize how many miles a running partner gets you through without you even feeling it until you don’t have one on those long runs. I’m looking forward to getting back to a normal routine again. Not that I’m happy with just the status quo, but being back in a controlled environment where it’s easier to stick to the good habits and resist the bad ones. I’m looking forward to what the new year holds for me both in my running and every other area of my life. #HWI…

Knocking Out The Saturday Morning Long Run – 25K Training

I honestly don’t know what changed this week, but as far as my running goes I have felt great this week. Knocking out the runs with paces that have far exceeded my expectations. I’m not sure if this means my training schedule is too easy for where I’m really at or I am just pushing myself too hard. One would like to think that after training and completing 4 marathons that you would see some improvements. However, I’m getting older so that typically means getting slower, but I’m fortunately not seeing that yet. I would have to say that many of my fast runs this week have easily been affected by tuning into the worship running music I listen too. Instead of being the one…

Some Days Are Just Tough Ones

Today’s run started off good but the second half was a tough to get through. It wasn’t a terrible training run but it wasn’t my best. When someone in Sierra Leone needs to make a trip to find water, there can be some good days, or some bad day. Those bad days, when clean water can’t get found, can be the difference between life and death. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Help find clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

5 Wintery Miles For Clean Water

Even though it is now considered the “off season” for the West Michigan #HWI team, the need for clean water hasn’t been completely met. Thanks to the work of the team this past year many thousands more will have access to clean water, but the harsh reality is that there are still thousands more that will still not have access to clean water. This is another reason why I feel compelled to keep running, even through the winter months, to continue to bring awareness to the huge need that is still before us. I would love to see people step into this Christmas season with a heart to make a global and lifelong impact and give the gift of clean water. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Give…

Tackling The Wind And The Rain

This morning was a cold, wet, and windy run to meet up with the Hope Water team. I did enjoy running with some of the team for about a mile-and-a-half before parting and finishing out my last 6.5 miles. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus The trek back home was quite a bit harder given that I was running into the wind instead of with the wind. It also didn’t help that I really had to kick things into higher gear to start to arrive by 8am to run with the team. I probably should have gotten up a little bit earlier to give myself an extra 15 minutes or so of running time. The important thing is that I made it there and finished the run….
