Great Training Run With Friends This Morning
Loved being able to do a training run with other guys. 3 things happen, first you’re building relationships and community. Kicking Off A New Training Plan
After still not quite getting much in for running the last two weeks I decided to just start a new training plan. For me, I need the motivation of a plan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a matter of if I don’t have a plan I won’t run, it does make it harder, but it really comes down to just not wanting to have to figure what I’m going to run every morning. Sticking With The Pacers
I wanted to make sure I hit my target based on how my training went. I decided before the race even started that I was going to stick with the pacers. That plan paid off. Even though my target pace was supposed to be 8:42 min/mi my choices for pacers was 8:30 or 9:00 and so I decided to stick myself in between, but really I just stuck with the 8:30 pacers the whole way, mostly. After hitting mile 10 on Butterworth Street there was a long stretch that was all downhill. I took advantage of that hill and passed the 8:40 pacers. Frozen Beard On The Final Stretch Of Training For The Groundhog Day Marathon
So as not to disappoint my fellow running mates, I got out there and got my Monday training run done complete with a frozen beard. Things were pretty good so long as I didn’t have to run into the wind. I picked my route so I could minimize running into the wind. I was pleasantly surprised by my overall average pace after finishing. I think Wednesday might be the most interesting final training run, we’ll see. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus
Nailing The Saturday Long Run
This morning I really just ran to the worship music and went at the pace that felt comfortable. I’m pretty blown away to see how much I improved my pace in just a couple of weeks, where I finished with a 9:50 min/mi pace. I think the most enjoyable part of my run this morning was just being pleasantly surprised by the next worship song. When the next song came on I just got into a zone of focusing on the music and running in time with it. I loved it.
