    Weekend Family Camping Recap

Had a great weekend camping not far from home at Woodchip Campground in Byron Center. Weekend was filled with a bunch of fun activities with the kids including time in the pool and time with some of Vanessa’s family. We haven’t decided if Woodchip will become an annual location or not. Woodchip Campground, 7501 Burlingame Ave SW, Byron Center, MI 49315

Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done…

“…on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread…” As I read these words and the pages that went with them, in “The Passionate Life”, it was pretty obvious God was speaking to me concerning my evening. While I’m so thankful for all that God continues to teach me, I feel a small sense that perhaps He has other plans for me then the opportunity to share this life with someone else. I will be honest in that my heart feels a little torn. Not so much because of anyone else, only because it seems that the verse I have claimed and have placed at the top of my blog is truely being lived out in my life. This is…

Preface: Healthy Living, A Story of Life Change

This post is the beginning of something bigger than myself. As I’ve been walking through a journey to get healthy over the past 8 months I have had many encounters with people that have asked me, either in depth or briefly, the “secret” to my weight loss. Recently, as I had breakfast with a very close friend/co-worker/brother-in-Christ he mentioned that I have a story worthy of a book. While I’m not sure about actually writing a book, I was prompted to consider how I might better share my story. I felt it was time that I dusted off my old blog and begin to put into words the journey I’ve been on. I’m not sure what this is going to look like in the end,…

Can I Make A Weekly Update?

Well, so it’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post. I think I need to do something about this. In no way have I gotten tired of the whole blog scene, it’s just that my life has changed so much. I’m still finding my way back to something that feels normal. Everything here still seems pretty new. I remember that it took a few months for me to establish some normalcy my first year of college. Everything was brand new for me, and it was hard to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t felt sad that I’m here, I do miss seeing so many people but I have been able to chat briefly with so many of you. If anyone ever wants…

    Completed My First Marathon…

Today was a pretty big day for me. I completed my first ever marathon. It was a tough day, with the down pouring rain, wind gusts of 20 some miles per hour, and getting cramps in my legs that slowed me down, I ended the race pretty discouraged. Not to mention I ended up having to be taken to the medic tent after crossing the finish line, which was something my running partner and I had talked about not wanting to have happen to us. Let’s just say it was a pretty humbling experience. I’m so thankful for all of the encouragement from the many Hope Water International runners the kept encouraging me on the way to the finish line. I especially appreciate Ron Bussa and Nick…
