Time For New Shoes

New Shoes, Old Shoes

I’ve been running on these old shoes for some time. They’ve gotten pretty badly worn and it was high time I get new ones before I injured myself. Looking forward to my first run in them. A little bird (i.e. my wife) told me that a couple HWP Team Daybreak members have these shoes too.

Kicking Off A New Training Plan

After still not quite getting much in for running the last two weeks I decided to just start a new training plan. For me, I need the motivation of a plan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a matter of if I don’t have a plan I won’t run, it does make it harder, but it really comes down to just not wanting to have to figure what I’m going to run every morning. With a training plan there is no question of what am I going to run, I don’t have to think about it, I just get out there and do what the plan says. Besides starting a new training plan, something that was said to me the night before, in regards to…

My Longest Run Since The 2019 GR Marathon

Most children in Sierra Leone don’t get to be “just kids” like kids can in America. Many children are the ones responsible for gathering the water that their entire family needs for the day. This results in either no education, or very little. Bringing more clean water to Africa means a better future for the children. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun Help Bring Clean Water to Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr I almost got 9 miles in, which is almost 3 miles beyond the farthest distance I’ve run since finishing the #GRMarathon in October. It definitely felt harder on the last half than the 1st half. I’m glad I was able to get through it without getting let cramps again.

    Running And Giving Thanks

Back at it after my camping vacation. I commend those that are able to stick with the training while on vacation. My love right now isn’t really conducive to running while on vacation much. It was nice to back out running having some worship and prayer time. I spent some time giving God thanks for walking with me as I worked to get healthy, which allows me to run for clean water. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun I also spent some time giving Him thanks for the amazing wife He has blessed me with. In many ways my wife is the better half in our family. I’ve been blessed to have someone that can counter my failings when it comes to being a parent but also…

Getting In Some Miles Early On A Wet Wednesday

As I was running in the rain this morning it got me thinking about the hardship that the rainy season causes for many in Sierra Leone. Like those that work for Enable The Children, the children with disabilities ministry, and those that #ETC supports. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun It’s crazy to think that something like rain, which should be a blessing to a people in desperate need of clean water, could cause hardship. For many though, the rainy season makes it challenging to get around and do things like sell their goods at the market. A well also brings safety during the rainy season both from a health standpoint as well as from the risks of trying to gather water from moving water like streams. Help…
