Tackling A Rainy And Intense Fitness Level Run

It was a very short run this morning but the intent was to go all out and run as hard as I could for 12 minutes. uses these periodic runs to get a baseline fitness level to make adjustments to the training plan. I’m surprised I came in finishing at a 7:43 pace but that included both a 5 minute warm-up and cool-down intervals. I did end up averaging a 7 min/mi pace for the 12 minute intense part of my run.

Despite it being a rainy morning it still felt good to be out for a run. After the 2017 downpour, and consistent winter training, I’m pretty much good to run in anything. If you are going to run a race outside you have to train in everything if you want to be prepared.

    Today’s training run was an intense interval run that pretty much required my complete focus. I only had 30 seconds to “recover” between my 6 minute long 8 minutes/mile pace intervals, and there were 8 of those.     Reverse Training Run For A 25K Recovery

    So there’s always the question of what do you do for running after you’ve finished a race, especially if you been on a training plan that ends with that race. Everyone needs to figure out what is best for themselves but one option is to reverse your training plan for a bit. Coming off of the 25K, and still being sore the day after, I decided that following the reverse training plan tactic might be best.     Kicking It Into High Gear

    I felt pretty good starting out this morning with a speedy starting pace. It was a short run this morning so I kicked it up a notch s bit above the easy pace that was called for. I love it a couple of the worship songs come on that talk about running or moving, those really get me fired up. One thing is for certain, winter running is certainly my thing.     A Hot Morning Run To Remember Sierra Leone

    We’re definitely into the hot #summer runs. I can’t imagine doing my #training run later in the day with this heat, especially not with lots of water. I thought 1 bottle was going to be enough this morning, boy was I wrong. Despite the heat I still had a good time focusing on prayer and listening to God.     Day Of Visits And Experiences

    We started our day at the World Hope International offices with introductions of some of the key staff that are involved with putting in wells. We also got briefed on some things to expect for the day and coming week. After our time meeting with the staff we got a tour of the drilling equipment and storage by Eugene. Eugene is from Nigeria and was brought to World Hope in Sierra Leone to lead the drilling teams. The tour included a lot of details on what the different equipment is used for in the process of drilling wells. There was so much I never realized went into drilling a well.
