A Better Tuesday Long Run, Working On Endurance

In Sierra Leone, Africa, many have no choice but to endure miles of travel to access water, and for many that water isn’t safe but they don’t have any other options. The need for clean water it’s great, and through Hope Water International, progress is being made, but we’re not done yet.

This morning I really worked on slowing my pace to fall in line with the training plan. I had a much better pace today than a few days ago. It was definitely a focus on endurance than speed. In some ways slowing down is more work than it is to speed up.

I’d like to see if I continue to work on my endurance if I can get back to a long run fast pace. Regardless of how things go I’m still blessed that I can manage most of the long runs.

An Easy Saturday “Long Run” To Finish Out The Week

I got out for a long overdue Saturday run, a “long run” as the training plan classified it. As expected, since it was a timed run I got more distance in than what was called for since pace is always a challenge for me. I still only got 3 runs in this week since my alarm didn’t get set on Thanksgiving day to get a short run in. #HWI #Run4Water #RiverBankRun #RBR At around 26°F it was a pretty crisp and frosty morning. I don’t think I had quite enough layers on but that kept me pretty motivated to keep up the pace to keep warm. That’s one aspect of winter running that I don’t think people really considering about winter running. With the temperatures…

    Kicking Things Up A Notch

Today my training run was kicked up a notch with some interval speed work. It definitely tested how recovered I am from the marathon. It’s been awhile since I have done any high intensity runs of substantial length. These sorts of runs do make it hard to spend a lot of time focusing on prayer unfortunately. It did however bring to mind #WhyIRun during some of the intense intervals and help to keep me pushing on. #HWI #Run4Water Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

Back In The Saddle On The Road To Recovery

I couldn’t do another day of just walking. I did my best to keep it a slow jog. I also continued to use the slower pace to have some good one-on-one time with God and pray for friends and family that I know need support for the things they are going through right now. As I continue to recover and work my way into a normal running routine again I need to keep working on where my focus is as I run. I’m thankful for how my recovery is going, and also thankful for the opportunity to see my running from a different perspective. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon

Before The Sun Rises, My Time To Run

Only $375 to go towards my goal, only about $12 per day until #GRMarathon day on October 20th. Who’s going to help bring clean water to another 56 people in Africa? https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun My running photo for today is a pretty typical sight for me.It can be a rarity that I’m actually have the opportunity to run with the sun out. With the exception of some shorter runs with the Hope Water team on Saturdays, or a race, my time to run is generally early in the morning before the sun rises. Except for the fact that I’m not really a morning person, and would rather stay in bed than get up and run, I like the peacefulness of an early morning run….
