First Work Morning, in the New Place…

So really yesterday was my first morning waking up in my new home, however this is the first morning that my work morning routine begins to take shape (at least until we return from our honeymoon). I’m going to have to keep this short for now.

These past couple of weeks, and now this week, have been amazing for my morning devotions. I struggled at the beginning of the year to want to go through one of the devotionals I had because I had already been through it a couple years ago. The amazing thing is over the course of the last couple of weeks, and now this one, the devotional readings have all been about marriage. This week talks about life after the honeymoon, which I know hasn’t happened yet, but it’s good to keep that in mind even before the wedding and honeymoon. The words to ponder this morning were “You’ll both get a lot farther and be a lot happier if you concentrate on fulfilling each other instead of perfecting each other”. As I thought about this, and what God commands of us, marriage is not at all about receiving it’s about giving. I’ve approached my relationship with Vanessa this way all along. I don’t understand why people insist on ignoring this part of marriage. God has called me to love Vanessa no matter what, that is exactly the kind of love that He shows me, how can I show any less to Vanessa (soon to be my wife). One of my desires is that God can use the marriage that Vanessa and I have in some way, that it always be pleasing in His sight. All I want is to do anything I can to help our marriage to be the kind of marriage God intended.

Well, the work whistle calls. Bfn…

    What’s in Store?

Well, I said that I was going to try and start blogging once again and I see it’s been like a month since my last post. Let’s just say life seems to be forever busy, not to say that life wasn’t busy back when I would blog up to 2 times a day, but things are busier. Now that I’m marriage and hopefully a baby on the way there is just more responsibilities. I think I’m coming to a point in my life where I’m having to really look hard at what is really most important. There are so many things I could be doing, and pretty much all good things. The thing that I wrestle with the most is that family comes first. What…

    Computer Upgrades on Order…

Well today I bit the bullet and ordered some upgrades for my laptop. I’m getting a 1GB stick of RAM & a 100GB hard drive. Home Missions is going to buy the 512MB stick of memory that is currently in my laptop. I figured that I best do this now while I have the money, and a way to sell the 512MB stick. With having the digital camera now and getting more website jobs I need the storage space too, I’ve only got like 6GB free right now. So sometime next week I should have everything in the machine. Well, back to work I go.

What Have I Gotten Myself Into…?

OK, let’s recap the day first. Got up at 5:30 this morning. Had some good time before work. I still really feel getting up at 5:00 would be better, I just can’t get to bed very early, grrr. Work was good today. I feel like I’m finally getting caught up with stuff. Yes! That’ll probably jinks it, LOL. I’m finding that I’m going to have to do some research to find a better system for the free church websites we’re providing. I might have to do something custom, so long as it’s easy to use. Overall a good day. It was nice to have some extra time today before youth praise team practice. The practice went pretty well. Some of the songs are new so…

Wild Life: No One Gets The Master Plan, And No One Is Perfect

I’ve known for a long time that I’m a perfectionist and a planner. This had always been both a strength and a great weakness for me. The major weakness is that I’m always trying to figure out God’s plan and I turn my perfectionism into unrealistic expectations of others. Also my perfectionism takes a lot of joy out of life. It means that unless it’s perfect I’m not happy, and the kicker is that it most likely 9 times out of 10 it isn’t going to be perfect. That’s a pretty sad way to live honestly. Add to the perfectionism the desire to always have a plan makes life pretty difficult as things more often than not don’t go according to the plan. Reading through…

Seeking God’s Direction When Looking Out On The Horizon

Both my wife an I are going through a low point where neither of us feels we have clear direction on where we are headed. Specifically, where and how we are to be serving. I thought I had some clear direction but a week ago that all seemed to change. I’m finding myself questioning a lot of things right now. It’s difficult to weather the storm when things start to fall apart. One thing is clear though, that no matter where in the journey we find ourselves God is right there to walk with us through it. We’ll see what this next season brings for our family. One thing is for sure, given that both my wife and I feel like we are at…

    Your Attention Please…

(Exodus 3:1-5) So God used a burning bush to get Moses attention. What does He use today to get our attention. I’m reminded of something a pastor said recently, “can we hear God’s whisper in this loud world?”, can we? The world that we live in is definitely busier and louder than in Biblical times. It took a burning bush even then to get Moses attention. Are we ready and willing to hear the whisper of God as He speaks to us? One of my favorite songs right now is “Praise You in This Storm” and part of the chorus goes: As the thunder rolls, I barely hear your whisper through the rain, “I’m with you” That thunder is the things of this world, and…
