First Work Morning, in the New Place…

So really yesterday was my first morning waking up in my new home, however this is the first morning that my work morning routine begins to take shape (at least until we return from our honeymoon). I’m going to have to keep this short for now.

These past couple of weeks, and now this week, have been amazing for my morning devotions. I struggled at the beginning of the year to want to go through one of the devotionals I had because I had already been through it a couple years ago. The amazing thing is over the course of the last couple of weeks, and now this one, the devotional readings have all been about marriage. This week talks about life after the honeymoon, which I know hasn’t happened yet, but it’s good to keep that in mind even before the wedding and honeymoon. The words to ponder this morning were “You’ll both get a lot farther and be a lot happier if you concentrate on fulfilling each other instead of perfecting each other”. As I thought about this, and what God commands of us, marriage is not at all about receiving it’s about giving. I’ve approached my relationship with Vanessa this way all along. I don’t understand why people insist on ignoring this part of marriage. God has called me to love Vanessa no matter what, that is exactly the kind of love that He shows me, how can I show any less to Vanessa (soon to be my wife). One of my desires is that God can use the marriage that Vanessa and I have in some way, that it always be pleasing in His sight. All I want is to do anything I can to help our marriage to be the kind of marriage God intended.

Well, the work whistle calls. Bfn…

Better Together – Why We Need Community

Community is God’s answer to defeat. You need to find the people who will stand with you in tough times and say, “We’re not going to let you get discouraged. We’re not going to let you get depressed. We’re not going to let you worry. We’re going to stay here with you.” Day 2 of the @YouVersion plan ‘Better Together’ (http://bible.com/r/Qc) A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT (https://bible.com/bible/116/ecc.4.12.NLT)

10 Things I’m Going To Love About MI

OK, so as I’m preparing this week for my big move to MI I’m thinking what I could share with you all about some reasons why I’m excited about this move. So here we go, let’s see if I can come up with 10. 1. More time I can spend with the most amzing woman I know! 😉 2. Many trips to a real beach! (with Vanessa of course!) 3. Taking dancing lessons (with an actual woman too!) 4. Living somewhere where there is more to do than hang out in the Pamida parking lot. (lol, jk, although this area is like Fargo/Moorhead so there is tons more to than Fergus) 5. A new job experience out in the real world. (not sure that this…

    Life Without Internet…Thursday

Thursday was an ok day at work. I really didn’t feel like I was able to keep on task as well as I would have liked. I was able to make some progress on the CLB site, integrating the forums into the homepage. I also got to talking with Todd about the whole blogging thing. He had setup himself with a Blogger.com blog. I offered to host a WordPress blog for him, then we got on the sunject of creating a CLB Blog site. Not sure how much of a demand there might be for this. I think it might be cool if Synod Staff & Pastors had blogs through the CLB. I didn’t get out of work till like 6. I decided to take…

    Another Day With My Thoughts…

Well, I think the unfortunate thing is that I’ve lost my amazing blog audience. I can really only blame myself of course. Let’s see, the very fact that I’ve barely had a weekly update, er, ok so it’s barely made it to be a bi-monthly update. Well, on to my continued thoughts. I think the crazy thing is I finally had to come to the reality that I need to let things go. It can be so easy for me to get worked up about something, and in the end it really isn’t very significant in the whole scope of things. What benefit is there to let myself get all worked up to the point where I can’t get to sleep and my mind just…

Dusting Off The Blog in The Corner

I’m going to keep this a little short as I’m actually typing this all out on my phone. I decided to try to consolidate and at the same time bring my old blog up-to-date and back into the picture. I haven’t really taken the time to blog in years. Going to perhaps pick things up again, while at the same time tie in my Twitter and facebook. We’ll see how it goes, not making any commitment, plus I can only type so long on my phone before nmy hands get tired. More to come later, hopefully.

    Women’s Roles in Church

(1 Corinthians 14:26-40) So as read the topic title for my devotions this morning I thought “Ah, something good today about worship”, but as I got to the third paragraph I couldn’t believe what I was reading. This is what is says: “(33b) As in all the congregations of the saints, (34) women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. (35) If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.” As I read those words I found a passage that seems to be used in many church, even my own historically. The thing…
