  • God Equips

I’ve heard it said many times “God equips the called, He doesn’t necessarily call the equipped.”. The statement from my devotions this morning reminded me of that fact. Recently in our small group we talked about the storms we have in life. I wonder if at times God allows these storms in effort to equip us for something more? “God equips” – The Men of the Bible Devotional: Insights from the Warriors, Wimps, and Wise Guys by Compiled by Barbour Staff
  • The Other John

(John 1:15-28) – One thing that can be confusing wen you are reading through the Scriptures is the fact that the same names are used in more than one context. Here we’re reading the book of John and right at the begin he begins talking about John. The John that is talked about here is actually John the Baptist who, if you read more of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John) you’ll find out is actually Jesus cousin. Now John the Baptist was called by God to go ahead of Jesus and prepare people for his coming. John was a pretty wild looking guy and got pretty riled up when speaking about Jesus coming. Since he was baptizing people the Pharisees were pretty interested…

    What God Brings…

It has been a few days since my last update. I think I should now be able to have more regular updates as I finally have internet access at my place, and my wireless is up and running. It’s not that I couldn’t post from Vanessa’s, that’s where the last one was posted from, I’ve just had a lot of other things to do during the day, and my best posting time is usually at night. If I’m at Vanessa’s in the evening we are usually spending time together, well I guess we’ve been spending just about all our evenings together. We have both talked about trying have more of a routine for the both of us. With the holiday during this week, and me…

The Keyword is “Since” Not “If”

As a follow up to my previous post it’s important that we remember that everything we are called to do as a Christ follower is in the context of “since” and not “if”. What’s the difference? If we have the thinking, “if someone is doing ‘x’, or not doing ‘y’, they can’t be a believer”, we are basically inferring that someone has no faith or belief in Christ because of their actions. That’s a pretty big leap, and a sure fire way to further the view that Christians are righteous, judgemental, hippacrits, essentially modern day Pharisees. As we dig into the New Testament we’ll find it’s very clear that as a result of being, or “since” we are, Christ followers there should be a lot…
  • This One Goes Out to All The Analytics…

Ok, so is analytics even a word….guess so according to Websters. I think it’s a riot how I can take a situation and analyze it to death, then God comes in and tells me to just follow His lead. Am I slow or what. It’s so easy to forget, that despite our best efforts God’s still the one in control. Well this is just a short post this morning before I get ready. God is the best, yeah! Ok, until later! Chow! Do I like the word chow or what? LOL
