Best Treadmill Run So Far

Back home at the gym and I had my best distance yet on the treadmill. I think putting in the extra time on my parents treadmill over the holiday trip was well worth it.

Health Challenges of a Desk Job

I saw this link today on this fancy device for an exercise ball to make it a chair. My co-worker has an exercise ball in his office he sometimes sits on. This Balance Ball Chair seems a little bit of a half attempt at the whole concept, seems like you’d lose some of the benefits of just using the exercise ball itself, but at least you have less of a chance of falling off right. ? This really touches on the challenges of keeping a healthy lifestyle when you have a desk job. Things like standing desks are another tool that has become popular because of the whole office health risk issue. Something I started early last year was to make a point of getting…

    Kicking Things Up A Notch

Today my training run was kicked up a notch with some interval speed work. It definitely tested how recovered I am from the marathon. It’s been awhile since I have done any high intensity runs of substantial length. These sorts of runs do make it hard to spend a lot of time focusing on prayer unfortunately. It did however bring to mind #WhyIRun during some of the intense intervals and help to keep me pushing on. #HWI #Run4Water Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

The Defining Moment For Why I Run

My run this morning consisted of a combo of an #Endomondo easy and a #HWI hard Tuesday run. Though many might see me as not knowing the meaning of an easy run, ha. I spent a lot of time reflecting on my time in Sierra Leone and the defining moment that occurred and encapsulates why I run. How do you process, and what action do you take when a woman is so desperate for water that she wants you to take her child away so that they have a chance to survive? That was it for me, #WaterIsLife and for many they would do something unthinkable for their children, let alone themselves, to survive. People tell me I’m crazy for running a marathon. Is anything…

Why I Run, Ronkorhun And Hope Water

Even though it was still humid the temperature was for sure cooler this morning when I stepped out the door. I got some good sprints in. I spent some time thinking about the village of #Ronkorhun , and the people I met there, praying that God would revitalize the people and draw them to Him. I also got to thinking about the amazing #HWI community that I am a part of, not only in West Michigan but as a whole. Praying that God would get us all through to the end. I prayed that the love and welcoming nature of the Hope Water teams would be felt by all that join a group run. #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Just Shy Of A Half Marathon Before Breakfast

This week is supposed to be the start of the training taper before the River Bank Run 25K next week. With a long interval run this morning it’s hard to think of this being a taper, but there isn’t a run scheduled for Saturday according to the plan I’m following so I guess that signifies a taper. ? It honestly kind of surprised me how close I was to getting in a half marathon distance in this morning. With the first hour of the run being a normal slower run I enjoyed a good time of worship and prayer. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyiRun #RiverBankRun
