Your Wife Should Not Be Outserving You

This is not about having a competition with your wife on serving, it’s about taking a hard look at yourself as a husband and asking yourself what kind of leader are you. We live in a world where leadership, and men, are expected to be authoritative and followed because of their authority. Jesus’ picture of a leader is a stark contrast to the world’s idea. And God’s design and calling for a husband is a daily challenge that I doubt many of us even come close to living up to. Marriage is work, and being the kind of husband, and father, God calls us to be should be our highest priority.

“If you are fulfilling Jesus’ word that the one who wants to be the greatest should be the greatest servant. Your wife should not be outserving you.” – For Married Men Only: Three Principles for Loving Your Wife by Tony Evans

But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, – Mark 10:43 NLT

    Major Catch-Up Coming…

Ok, so I’ve been pretty out of it blog-wise the past week. It’s not so much an issue of not wanting to blog. It’s just an issue of having the right time to do it. I’m thinking I’m going to work in a good chunk of time tomorrow to catch up on everything that’s been going on. I think my problem too is that I really like doing my post right before I go to bed. This is good and bad as my day is done but I usually spend a good chunk of time writing and don’t get to bed as soon as I really need to. I’m going to leave with at least one topic posted… So a match has been found on…

    Another Good Day…But I’m Tired

Ok, I’m straining to keep my eyes open here. I’m going to have to make this a quick one if I can. I got up this morning only to find I was out of grits. Yeah you heard that right grits. I’ve gotten on this grits kick. It’s pretty much like Malto-Meal [edit (11-12-05): grr, look what happens when you’re half asleep and blogging. It shouldn’t have been Malto-Meal but Cream of Wheat] which I’ve like for as long as I can remember. So I snagged a leftover roll at work when I got there this morning. I was pretty tired most of the day. I haven’t been getting to bed as earlier as I’ve needed to this week. I guess between the eHarmony, blogging,…

    John Confirms Jesus

(John 1:29-34) So, John didn’t know Jesus really, other than what God had revealed to him. However, the key things that God revealed to him was how he would recognize who Jesus was. We see here that Jesus came to John to be baptized. Even though, as far as John was concerned, he wasn’t worthy to baptize Jesus that is what Jesus required of him. He did this and then John saw first hand the Holy Spirit come down onto Jesus, and this was exactly what God had told John would happen. At that point John had no doubt at all that this was Jesus. He told everyone what he had been told and experienced.

    Hardships…Who’s to Blame?

(Exodus 5:1-23) Initially it would seem that Moses and Aaron weren’t helping matters each time they talked to Pharaoh. The Isrealites even blamed them for making things harder for them. How did Moses and Aaron take that? Well we know that at least Moses in turn decided to blame God for what was happening to the Isrealites. It might seem that both the Isrealites and/or Moses were correct in placing blame, however they were wrong as God had a plan for it all. I think about when things, even small things, don’t go our way we so easily look to place blame. I think it can be so easy for us to lose sight of the possibility that God is working. We can never fully…

    So What’s Been Going On…

I think I’m going to work my way back on this one. I’ll start with today and work my way backwards. (ok, as I start I realized it’s much easier to start at the beginning of a day and work through it, so this is going to be kind of weird to follow, oh well) Before I begin I have to say, the saying that “dogs are a man’s best friend” is so true. My dog Sweetie is so awesome. Show me a cat that picks up on the meaning of “It’s time for bed”. Dog’s have all the smarts, they’re awesome. Today I was able to get up at like 5:30, and this gave me a good amount of time. I did some devotions…
