A Timely Study I Needed This Week

Parenting with Wisdom

This was an interesting week to say the least. Did it go like I had planned, or hoped, maybe not? This week did teach me some clear areas I need to work on as a parent, and an even greater appreciation for how amazing my wife is. This study was both timely and needed as I worked through this week. I highly recommend anyone in the parenting stage to give this devotional a read, but prepared to be challenged by it.

    The Time Has Come…

Well, for those that have long awaited a post to thie fabulous blog, here we go. This will probably be a short one. So much has been going on since my last post, actually a lot happened through December that I didn’t even get time to write about. I’m really looking forward to life settling down a bit. I’ve even created a schedule that will be available online as well. I’m looking forward to…

Better Together – Why We Need Community

Community is God’s answer to defeat. You need to find the people who will stand with you in tough times and say, “We’re not going to let you get discouraged. We’re not going to let you get depressed. We’re not going to let you worry. We’re going to stay here with you.” Day 2 of the @YouVersion plan ‘Better Together’ (http://bible.com/r/Qc) A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT (https://bible.com/bible/116/ecc.4.12.NLT)

    Putting Wood On The Fire

Put more wood into the fire by accompanying your partner to his/her favourite place. – Day 1, Refresh Your Marriage In 31 Days I can definitely see that the busyness of life makes it more challenging to keep the “wood fires burning” of marriage. Marriage takes work and especially intentional action to keep plain selfishness at bay. If we would keep our focus on serving in our marriage then love would be more readily felt. I need to plan to be intentional about this each day.
  • Time To Get Serious: Better Than Gold

Psalm 19:7-14, we need God’s Word. This passage in the Psalms is telling us what the Word of God can do for us: 1.) it’s comprehensive; and can change your whole person, 2.) it teaches you how to live; and gives wisdom, 3.) shows you the true path; you can’t see life as it really is without it, 4.) the Word is pure and perfect without fault. The reading also talks about how so many things in the world today take away from being in God’s Word, and holding it more valuable. The reading also got me thinking about the difference in reading a Biblical-based study, and just reading the Bible straight-up. I had the pleasure of talking with my families old neighbor over the…
