Two Weeks Since Groundhog
It’s hard to believe that it was 2 weeks ago that I did the Groundhog Day Marathon. It’s been nice to get back into a running routine this past week. Do to so e family things going on I wasn’t able to make it to run with those from the #HWI team. Hopefully I’ll be able to make some time soon. This morning while I listened to the worship music I was thinking about the next #SierraLeone team. This morning was not only filled with worship time but also some time of reflecting on the holiday and the joy of celebrating with family the birth of our Savior. I’m thankful for the day we had to put all of the challenges of recent days, weeks, and months aside and enjoy time together with family. The New Year is upon us and, as it approaches, I pray that God would continue to guide our family in fulfilling his plan. I also spent time thinking about the next Sierra Leone trip coming May, and the team God is putting together. It was an interesting morning given today ended up being both a winter weather advisory and a speed work training day. Not to mention getting a work call mid-run. I had the opportunity to witness, first hand, the water situation in Sierra Leone, Africa. It is an honor that Hope Water Intl is working with World Hope Intl in a joint mission to bring clean water to Africa. I am proud to know that #WHI is not just sending Americans into Africa to help and leave, but rather they train and employ locals to carry out the mission. Whether they need drivers, administration, or well drillers, nearly everyone is a national. I didn’t get a chance to hear each of their stories on how they got to where they are today. One of the reasons for this is put together so nicely in my devotions this morning, showing our kids how important they are by giving them time. Sometimes it can be challenging navigating new territory as a runner. It amazes me how packed things are here in Old Town Alexandria compared to the neighborhood back in Hudsonville, Michigan.
