Seeing, And Meeting, The Needs of Others

@YouVersion Plan ‘The CODE Unlocked’

Responding to the Needs of Others Around You

I have, at times, been cognizant of the needs of those I’ve been in connection with. Most often the help has come by way of financial assistance. There have been other times that non-financial needs have arose and I’ve responded, but those times seem to have been in the minority.

Being Intentional About Seeing, And Meeting, The Needs of Those Around Us

We are called to not only help our brothers and sisters in Christ, but to help all those in need around us. I’m reminded of the book the 10 Second Rule.

There are so many needs all around us. How often do we simply turn a blind eye all because of our own selfish desires? I know that I have. Whether it’s at home or at the grocery store, the challenge is to put others before ourselves.

    God’s Working

    In an effort to trying posting on a regular basis, here goes #2 for the year. πŸ™‚ Recently over the course of a few weeks I applied for a job, got 2 intrviews and was offered a job. The job, in-and-of itself, I would have loved, however it would have come at a great financial cost to my family, which would have made it much harder to either adopt again or think about buying a new house. I think what was most important that came out of the whole situation was the realization that neither me or my family has any real goals or plans for our lives. God really brought that to light, and really made it apparent that without that sort of plan…

    A Hoodie Kind Of Morning

    It was good that I had a week of blistering cold Minnesota running which pretty much prepared me for the colder weather we’ve had this week. This morning was a shorter interval run, but the 20 minute high intensity interval pretty much set me up to only focus on the run, and the upcoming Groundhog Day Marathon. I’m trying to just trust my training is preparing me like it should but the longest I’ve ran since the last marathon was 18 miles, which is 8.2 miles short. Again, I need to keep my focus on merely finishing and not let myself get caught up with anything else. I can’t deny that it would be great to beat my last marathon time, but I can’t let…
  • Give Me a Boost

    Well, I know it’s been awhile since my last little updated, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Vanessa & I have been having a great time with our dance class. It’s so great to have someone to dance with, as I’ve wanted to get into dance for a long time. We haven’t been up to a whole lot over the past couple of weeks because Vanessa got sick and then had some back problems. I feel so bad for her, I wish that I could make her all better but only time and rest help to overcome those things. I’ve tried to help her out as much as I can. I guess there is a part of me that just wants to take care…

    Devotions for Sacred Parenting #23: The Vice of the Virtuous

    β€œWhen we don’t live as a people in need of grace, we expect others to be perfect, and we bitterly resent it whenever even the slightest imperfection puts us out.” – Devotions for Sacred Parenting by Gary L. Thomas It seems so easy to take our grace for granted. When we fall into this that is where our actions don’t reflect someone living under God’s grace. God has called us to love Him, and love others as ourselves. As Christ followers love always needs to be first with grace to follow.

    Another Easy 5 Mile Training Run, And The GR Marathon Is Not Too Far Off

    A nice cool comfortable 5 mile run with my running partner. We did get caught in a little bit of rain towards the end of our run. I feel like we kept the pace on the easy side. I think we’re both surprised how close the #GRMarathon is, but we’re feeling ready for it. #HWI #Run4Water I’m still looking for some individuals to partner with me, about $200 to go, and help me hit the $1000 mark for wells in Africa. We have matching funds right now so for every $1 that is given it’s actually $2. #WaterIsLife #WhyIRun Donate Now – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
