    Race Pace Training Run

#HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water Only a little wet this morning but it actually felt good by keeping things cooler. Tried to keep at a race pace but as usual my pace was a bit of a roller coaster. Even with music I can’t keep it very consistent from one minute to the next. I need to work on that, but perhaps my consistent race pace is slower than I’d like it to be and that’s why I have such a hard time. I know that I was pushing the limits given how high my heart rate would get. I think maybe it’s time to put aside the training plan that is trying to get me faster and just get out and enjoy the run. Not…

Knocking Down The Intense Baseline Run

It was a pretty quick intense run this morning, just something to give #Endomondo a baseline for training plan adjustments. Not really much time to enjoy to think about much or enjoy the warmer weather. It’s OK to have one of those every once in a while. I wasn’t sure how today would go given I didn’t get my Tuesday run in after being sick Monday. Every day is a new day! #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Final Training Week Before The Groundhog Marathon

It was kind of strange to not have ran since last Thursday, and I always fear any sort of break is going to set my training back. Once I hit the pavement I was moving just as if I hadn’t taken a break. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Right now the people of Sierra Leone are in the middle of the dry season. This is a tough time for those that don’t have access to clean water. Bring hope to the people of Sierra Leone by giving to clean water. https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Prequel To The Groundhog Day Marathon?

It was a tough run this morning the snow covered sidewalks and pathways really took their tole the further I got into my run. On top of that my CamelBak nozzle froze up and couldn’t get any water for a good portion of the second half of my run. What was supposed to be a 17 mile run ended up being only a 15 mile run. I had my mask on to help cover my face from the wind, which I’m so thankful I had decided to that otherwise my face probably would have been frozen. There is no telling what the weather is going to be like come February 2nd, for the Groundhog Day Marathon. After today’s experience I’m a little more concerned about…

New Well in Waterloo, Traveling to Freetown

Today was pretty easy-going as we packed up at the hotel in Makeni to head to Waterloo & Freetown, making the first step towards the trek home. We had a nice long ride to Waterloo where we were going to see some of the final drilling stages of a new well. The well was being put in right near a school in a very poor area of Waterloo. Since it was near a school, and want looked like a community “park” there were a lot of kids around. I think there were a lot of people in general because of watching the well drilling. We’re there for about 3.5 hours before we started to see some water flowing from the well. They eventually got the…
