Just A Short Test Run

Today, was a fitness level test run, 5 minute warm-up/cool down and 12 minutes of high intensity running. The intensity of these runs make it hard to think about much, though I still enjoyed the worship workout music. There are 2 albums that I typically rotate between.

These are my go-to music selection for running. I enjoy having some worship time during my runs to help me start off with God.

Pushing Through An Intense Speed Test Run

Back at it again this morning. It was an intense short training test run. I was hoping to see a #5K #PR but that may have to wait until Saturday when I do the #HotCiderHustle 5K. I had just ran the night before so my body hadn’t really had a ton of recovery time. I’ll be looking forward to representing #HWI at the Hot Cider Hustle. It sounds like there will be a few of us out there. I always love having the opportunity to share to share about the mission when I where my Hope Water blue. Beating The Urge To Go Back To Bed

A little windy this morning but it made for a nice cool run. I didn’t feel like I slept very well so it was hard to get going this morning. The thought crossed my mind a couple of times to just skip the run today and go back to bed. I couldn’t get myself to do that though. I know that once I actually get moving things turn around. Also, it’s the best time for me to get one-on-one with God with little distraction. It’s hard to believe that the #GRMarathon is only like 6 weeks away. I still have some fundraising to do for #HWI and I’d really like to get to $2000 but that will be a big challenge for sure. #Run4Water Hudsonville,…

Reverse Training Run For A 25K Recovery

So there’s always the question of what do you do for running after you’ve finished a race, especially if you been on a training plan that ends with that race. Everyone needs to figure out what is best for themselves but one option is to reverse your training plan for a bit. Coming off of the 25K, and still being sore the day after, I decided that following the reverse training plan tactic might be best. I honestly can’t explain how it is that I ended up hitting the crazy pace other than it just felt right and I didn’t feel like I was killing myself. Actually, as my run went on my pace got faster. It feels pretty good to have exceeded my goal…

    Preflight Long Run

Since our family was flying to Minnesota very early the next morning I decided to get my long run in the night before. It started out very strange because as I ran I felt like I was slowly trudging along but when my audio coach gave me updates it was saying I was doing a pace under 9 min/mi which just didn’t seem possible. Then for the first half of the run I was just cruising. The second half of the run was a very different story. I’m not sure why I just hit the wall but it happened. I eventually decided to cut the run short at a half marathon distance. Giving how slow my pace was the last few miles I expected a…
