Even though it had snowed the night before, it was a pretty wet run. When I got done my socks were soaked. One aspect of the slush that I don’t enjoy, besides the wet feet, is the buildup of ice that happens in my cleats and having to run with ice balls stuck to your feet. On the bright side it encouraged me to slow down. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

I count myself blessed that with everything going on in the world I am still able to get out and put some miles in early on a Tuesday morning. I pray for those fighting against the virus that is spreading throughout our world and for those that are still in need of clean water. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun Support new wells in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
Imagine this picture take during the rainy season with a rushing creak under this bridge. That is just one of the many dangers that children, on the trek to water, face each day. When water isn’t easily accessible to a community most often children are tasked with making the journey each day to gather a container of water for their families. A new locally available water supply helps keep kids safe in Africa. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
Since I kind of felt at an odd place training plan-wise I decided to do a long and hard run. I did however make sure I spent some time connecting with God through prayer and some worship music. I had the impression that I would have weeks of no running, but my recovery went so well I was feeling good for a run within a week. I also was reminded that just a little over a year ago I had just returned from a trip to Sierra Leone Africa. I will never forget my experience there and the impact it has had on my life. Enjoyed a nice cool 12 mile run by with my #HWI running partner. Great time of conversation and keeping each other motivated. Nice to get ‘er done early. #GRMarathon #Run4Water
TL;DR – This year #WCGR was all about people and conversations for me. Oh, and trying my hand at speaking, which I didn’t totally bomb. Today marked the 4th WordCamp Grand Rapids that I’ve attended. Last year I was just an attendee but this year I stepped things up in a pretty bug way. I was not only a volunteer at the Happiness Bar, but I helped with organize the event, and was even one of the speakers. One of the things I love about #WordCamp Grand Rapids, and the #WordPress community is the people. Yet again I felt welcomed as a member of the community, valued for my experiences as a developer and user of WordPress, and encouraged when I had doubts of being…
Back to the #AdidasRunning app and on a #5K #training plan to take me to the end of May. I don’t have any race that I’m training for but I may end up doing a virtual race at some point. #running
