An 8 Mile Tuesday For Clean Water

In a time when many of us are stuck in our homes I’m glad to still be able to get out and run. I could definitely tell things were quieter than normal when I was finishing up my run. I am glad to know that, so far, no cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Sierra Leone.

    When I start talking with people about my running there is always the question of why I’m running and what my goals are. I’ll be honest that running just kind of happened.     Day Of Visits And Experiences

    We started our day at the World Hope International offices with introductions of some of the key staff that are involved with putting in wells. We also got briefed on some things to expect for the day and coming week. After our time meeting with the staff we got a tour of the drilling equipment and storage by Eugene. Eugene is from Nigeria and was brought to World Hope in Sierra Leone to lead the drilling teams. The tour included a lot of details on what the different equipment is used for in the process of drilling wells. There was so much I never realized went into drilling a well.     Completed My First Marathon…

    Today was a pretty big day for me. I completed my first ever marathon. It was a tough day, with the down pouring rain, wind gusts of 20 some miles per hour, and getting cramps in my legs that slowed me down, I ended the race pretty discouraged. Not to mention I ended up having to be taken to the medic tent after crossing the finish line, which was something my running partner and I had talked about not wanting to have happen to us. Let’s just say it was a pretty humbling experience. I’m so thankful for all of the encouragement from the many Hope Water International runners the kept encouraging me on the way to the finish line.     Great Weather For An Early Morning Run For Clean Water

    Even though there was a little bit of moisture this morning it was still great weather for a run. I know that right now it seems pretty outrageous to be asking people to support the clean water effort when many have lost their jobs, or are otherwise undergoing major hardships due to the coronavirus. The other global needs that existed before the pandemic hit didn’t go away so we can’t forget about them.
