Starting Off Another Week With A 4 Mile Run, And Feeling Good

It was hard to get up this morning but after getting out the door, and getting some time in, I finished my run and actually felt good both physically and mentally. It’s the first run in a long time that I could say I felt good when I was done, and on top of that I felt good about my time/distance/pace.

I’m really trying to focus on just getting some running time in, and soon I’ll start my 25K or marathon training. I haven’t decided yet what my race plans are going to be. I know that I can’t manage a full marathon and a 25k all in one week. My choice is to either only do the half marathon followed by the 25K or defer the 25K to yet another year. I was hoping to really challenge myself to get back on track with my running by doing another full marathon. However, maybe this is God’s way of telling me that I need to change my focus.

    Relegating To The Treadmill

With my wife out of town I can’t be leaving the kids home alone, this means the treadmill it is. I think this is the first time I’ve been on the treadmill probably in the last 8-10 months. I literally can’t remember the last time I had to use it. For times like these I’m glad we have it or there would be no running. Since the treadmill required significantly less thought, except for changing the speed during the short interval run segment, it gave me ample time to think about the Sierra Leone team and trip. I continue to pray for our team’s planning and the journey to come. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

    Attempting To Follow The Plan

In an effort to actually take into consideration the things I read about running, and specifically training, I tried to slow things down today. I was still a bit faster than the training plan called for today but then it also felt like I was barely exerting myself, which is also kind of the point with slowing down and actually training my body and not just pounding on it. An additional benefit of slowing things down are being able focus and my one-on-one time with God. It allows me to actually listen to the words of the music that is playing, and listen to God’s prompting. Today was less about bring up my, or others, needs but about simply being thankful for where I am…

Doing An Intense Training Evaluation Run On A Foggy Thursday Morning

It was a pretty cool morning which attributed to the dense fog but the temperature was nice for a run. I’m planning on sticking with my 25K training plan until the time the #RiverBankRun was supposed to take place. The need for clean water hasn’t come to an end. #HWI #WhyIRun #Run4Water Give to clean water in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr With so many other changes happening because of COVID-19 it’s good to be able to keep some things the same. I’m general our family is adjusting to the new normal, but time will tell how things go. While most are in an area where you a generally restricted to their home it’s important for everyone to still find a way to connect with others. Using video…

    Beginning The Next Marathon Training

This morning officially started my next marathon training. As a ran I couldn’t help but think about the #HWI team and all the new people that may have a lot to overcome this year as they prepare for their first half or full marathon. Also those that have already sustained an injury this year and are on the mend. My prayers were not only for the team and God’s protection and strength, as they overcome each step of the journey, but also how God would use me this year to help the team through their training and continue to slbe used to further the cause. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
