A Run To Refocus And Relieve Some Stress

Due to early morning work my morning run got delayed. However, it was a downpouring rain. At 4:30 this morning anyways. It was a tough run with the heat/humidity and a bad morning at work. I needed the run to clear my head and prepare myself for the day ahead. Despite all the focus on myself on this run I did listen to God’s prompting long enough to lift some others’ needs up to him.

Kicking Off The Week With A Nice Run

This morning was one of those slow to get out of bed mornings. Once I got out and started breathing in some fresh crisp morning air I was awake and ready to roll. Especially after hitting play on the workout worship music. The first half of my run was time to just enjoy the worship music, the second half of my run I spent a lot of time in prayer. The combination of prayer, worship, and running it’s kind of a trifecta for me. I’m blessed that God had bought me to this place. And to top that all off I can use my running to have a global reach in helping bring clean water to those in need. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to…

Managing A Late Start Interval Run

This morning had an off start. After waking up and looking at the time I realized I had forgot to change my alarm the night before and I had woken up an hour late. I tried to get myself out the door as soon as I could but I knew there was no way I was going to get the 8-9 miles in that my training plan called for. On top of that it was an interval training run. I decided to just follow the intervals but cut the run short in order to get back home at a decent time. I did manage to get just shy of miles in, even though I had some tough going intervals. When you throw the major wind…

Focusing On The Distance Not The Pace

There is a reason the saying goes that “life is like a marathon, not a sprint” and it has to do with going the distance. Getting back to the basics of marathon training means focusing on slowing down and building up the endurance needed to finish well. If I’ve learned anything from this past year of training it’s that I lost sight of this fundamental part of training. If I have any hope of finishing well at the upcoming Groundhog Marathon I need to keep focus on that key piece of my training. Today I tried to keep that focus though I still finished with a much faster pace than my training plan directed. I’ll be working on that more in the weeks to come….

Clean Water Brings Safety To A Community

Imagine this picture take during the rainy season with a rushing creak under this bridge. That is just one of the many dangers that children, on the trek to water, face each day. When water isn’t easily accessible to a community most often children are tasked with making the journey each day to gather a container of water for their families. A new locally available water supply helps keep kids safe in Africa. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    Doing The Long Winter Run

Got in good long run in this morning, with the help of my running partner. I was thankful to not have to do the whole 18 miles alone. It felt good to know that even in the winter I can do that long of a run. The last couple of miles was a push, but I was also about out of water, so that didn’t help matters. Looking forward to more winter runs in the future. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus
