The Blessings of Water on a Hot Summer Run

Even at 5:30 in the morning it is pretty hot and humid. I’m glad to be getting mine done now as I can’t imagine what the run would be like later in the day. I also feel blessed to have water to drink to stay hydrated.

To think about not having water on these hot runs, or water that will make you sick so you can’t even run, really puts our privilege in the U.S. into perspective.

Impacting The World And The Next Generations

Donate to Clean Water, Donate to the Future: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Putting in a well in a village in Africa doesn’t only provide for an immediate need, it also impacts future generations. Wells in Africa have the potential to change who the next president or prime minister could be, or the next Olympic gold medalist, or the next major entrepreneur that could change the economic structure. Clean water changes the world and the future. What are we going to invest in, gathering some things that won’t last, or impacting our world and future generations?

    Another Tough Interval Training Run

I’m not sure what to make of yet another hard interval run. It is training so to a degree it should be hard. I guess I’m hopeful that in the end I will be better trained for the #GRGus Groundhog Day Marathon come February. I think I consider it a failure when I can’t hit the intervals all right on with the expected pace. Maybe I’m focusing too much on the plan and trying to get better instead of just being content with being ready to simply finish the marathon. There is also the aspect of not losing sight of the reasons I run. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

    Kicking Off The Week Strong

My training plan slowed my pace down this week. I suspect since my last Thursday evaluation run involved some pretty icy sidewalks that it affected the outcome of my training plan. I felt really good even after taking this past Saturday off. It’s definitely been harder staying with it since I’m pretty disconnected from my Hope Water Team these days. I’m glad I got out there this morning to knock out some miles for clean water. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Final Flight Leg and Arriving in Sierra Leone

We got on our flight to Paris. It was nice to have most of us fairly close together on the flight. We had a short time in Paris at the airport. Got some coffee recharged electronic device and took a chance to get to know each other better. Mike likes to be the jokester of the group. I don’t think any of us got much sleep in on the flight from Paris to Freetown. Dawn beat me at a game of checkers on the in flight media system. Leaving the airport was quite the experience and spectacle. We had a large group of young men that insisted on helping us get to the World Hope vehicles. Curtis and I got to ride in the World…
