Completing 10 Miles in Prep for the Groundhog Marathon

It was definitely a challenge to get going this morning but I got out and got it done. I may not be hitting any more PRs, but that isn’t my goal anymore. These days it’s all about staying running, encouraging others to keep running, and being committed to continuing to bring clean water to Africa.

    Getting in A 10K+ Run

Clean water has a huge effect on a village. When clean water is readily available it means students can go to school that would have otherwise had to spend their days collecting water. Setting Goals And Going After Them

Setting goals is fun and games. Going after them is another matter. Without perspiration to match your inspiration, your dream imagined will turn into a dream deferred. Chase The Lion Something that I’ve had a hard time with over the years is having clear goals to work towards. Even in my job it’s most often been a matter of just getting direction from others or meeting the immediate needs. This seems counter to my planner personality but it’s never been the short term, knowing what needs to get done, planning that has been my challenge. It’s never been a real priority for me to have goals and a plan for seeing those goals met. I think I’ve always had ideas that have come to mind…

Struggling Through Another Round Of Speed Work

Another speed work training run to kick my butt this morning. I pretty much struggled to keep up with the fast 7:27 min/mile pace I was supposed to be maintaining for 4 minute intervals. We’ll see how this winter training goes. I have a feeling it’s going to be challenging to get through speed work once the snow falls. I have a hard time with the idea of having to do my speed work on the treadmill, but I guess I can’t rule it out. Given the intensity of the run this morning, other than asking God to get me through another 4 minute interval, my prayer time was pretty much nil. Not exactly how I prefer my runs to go. This is definitely something…

    Race Pace Training Run

#HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water Only a little wet this morning but it actually felt good by keeping things cooler. Tried to keep at a race pace but as usual my pace was a bit of a roller coaster. Even with music I can’t keep it very consistent from one minute to the next. I need to work on that, but perhaps my consistent race pace is slower than I’d like it to be and that’s why I have such a hard time. I know that I was pushing the limits given how high my heart rate would get. I think maybe it’s time to put aside the training plan that is trying to get me faster and just get out and enjoy the run. Not…
