One More Thursday Morning 5 Mile Run Before The Final Tapering of Miles

Getting down to the end of the Thursday morning training runs, soon we’ll be tapering off as the is only a few more weeks away. This morning we got so wrapped up in conversation that it seemed like the run was done before we knew it. That is one of the joys of running with others is that it becomes less about the run and more about the relationships.

I’m only about $165 away from the $1000 mark. We still have matching funds so every dollar is like two. You can easily make double the impact with your gift.

A Little Early Morning Half Marathon

Sticking to the #Endomondo training plan meant getting up before 4am to get 13 miles of running in before my wife needed to leave the house by 6:15. I can say that I was overjoyed having to get up so early, but the alternatives were even less appealing. One thing that something like a time commitment, making sure I was home so my wife could leave, does is give you extra motivation to keep up the pace. And that was definitely going through my mind several times. I’m not 100% certain why but my pace slowed slightly after I hit about mile 9. I do think I made it harder on myself because I didn’t take salt tablets before the long run, nor during. I…

Why Do I Run? No, Really, Why Do I Run?

For some time now I’ve struggled with continuing to post my runs. I used to tell myself that I was trying to bring awareness to the need for clean water in the world, especially to our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone, Africa. I feel like in the last few months I’ve lost sight of that, or if I’m really honest, it’s because I don’t think anyone else cares about that anymore. everything that has been going on with the pandemic, and now with the needed focus on racial injustice, I feel like people have forgotten about all the needs that existed before. The needs in our world are so many and we can’t all focus on all of them but we need some of…

    A Tough Tuesday Training Run

I could tell from the start that it was going to be a tough run. I even made a point of going to bed early the night before, because I was going to need to be up by 3:45am to get my 11 mile done at a decent time. I made it to 10 miles and had to stop and let my keys takes rest. I ended up doing some walk/run intervals to get myself home. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus It was one of those tough runs where you begin to question your training and whether you’re going to even be able to tackle the next race. I’m going to need to keep my eye on the cause in order to get through this I…

Day Camp in Kathirie, Celebration And Sharing The Love

Today started off a little bit slower. There was a little bit of a communication problem with breakfast but it all worked out with plenty of time before our World Hope transportation arrived. Terry and I actually had a little time to chat with some of the hotel staff after breakfast during and after the butchering of our goat. Yes, Terry and I got to see them butchering “litte Ron” as some of us liked to call him. We explained a little bit about Hope Water International and the partnership with World Hope. Once our rides arrived we loaded up and headed to the office to meet up with some World Hope staff that would be joining us for the day in Katherie. Once things…
