Before The Sun Rises, My Time To Run

My running photo for today is a pretty typical sight for me.It can be a rarity that I’m actually have the opportunity to run with the sun out. With the exception of some shorter runs with the Hope Water team on Saturdays, or a race, my time to run is generally early in the morning before the sun rises. Except for the fact that I’m not really a morning person, and would rather stay in bed than get up and run, I like the peacefulness of an early morning run. It’s my quiet time, just the road and God.

    80 Degree Morning Run With The Blessing of Water

    Sporting the Slip n Slide 5K shirt on my training run this morning. It was a hot one at 5am, I can’t imagine doing my run later today. Running in the heat took me back to our short 3 mile run in Freetown #SierraLeone and remembering #WhyIRun for those in need. I was blessed to have 2 fresh bottles of water available to me while I ran.     5K Training Run – Need to Slow it Down

    I haven’t been posting my runs in awhile, just for the pure fact of the extra time it requires to post it to my blog. It’s just faster using Endomondo’s share feature to post to social media rather than turning off the social media sharing of my blog posts. Today’s training run, day 2/week 3, was a slow pace day. Was very hard to stick to the show pace, as evidenced by my time. It was supposed to be a 11:42 min/mi rune but it was more like 10:00 min/mi. ? [endomondowp type=’workout’ workout_id=’872608651′]

However much I feel like I need or want. For villages in Africa the choice is not that simple. We have public drinking fountains, bathrooms everywhere. Every dollar Hope Water raises helps to make water more readily available to those in need. I’m glad to say that I didn’t end up with any significant injuries from my fall on Saturday, other than some scraped up knees. I managed a pretty intensive run this morning. Everything felt great.

    Once the winter weather season hits I always have to remember that I will end up slowing down. It’s a good time to focus on just enjoying the run. Some may thinks it’s pretty crazy to consider a winter run as something to be enjoyed.
