Time To Get Serious: God Can Handle It

Ephesians 1:1-6, today’s study talks mostly of how great and self-sufficient God is. It is pointed out that just by the very complexity and detail of nature, God shows his power and greatness. God didn’t have to create us, but it pleased Him to do so, this is also what gives us hope. God didn’t have to make a way for salvation, but He did because of his love for us. Well, the thoughts for this morning are not very long but our response to God’s grace and self-sufficient power ought to be one of praise and thanksgiving. Amen!

    Mercy and Grace in Relationships

    “When we allow God’s love and mercy to flow through us to our spouse, we will find less conflict, more grace, quicker forgiveness and much more delight at home.” I know that too often, I jump to conclusions and assumptions instead of giving people, especially my wife, the benefit of the doubt. This an area that has produced far more conflict then it could have had I just executed a little grace and mercy first. We have a God that shows us far more grace, love, and mercy than we deserve. So it really goes without question that we need to attempt to do b the same in our relationships, especially with our spouse.

    I’ve heard it said many times “God equips the called, He doesn’t necessarily call the equipped.”. The statement from my devotions this morning reminded me of that fact. Recently in our small group we talked about the storms we have in life.     Job 38:1-7, God is omnipotent, I think God does a lot of laughing as He watches us struggle with things that He can take care of with a simple thought. It can be so easy for us to forget about God in even the small details. When we begin to think that “we can do it” we can leave God by the way-side. Man has made many accomplishments, but none of it would have happened without God allowing it. It’s important for use to bring all things to God for His guidance.     Something to Ponder…

    Devotions this morning says, as Christians, we should not be thinking “I can’t”, at least in following God’s direction. This is so very true, Jesus pointed out what little faith we have, and how little faith it takes to even move a mountain. I think of the times I have thought, “I just can’t do this”, because of circumstances in my life. Shame on me if I’m failing to follow God’s leading. This lead into a four week study on marriage & family.
