11 Frosty Beard Miles

Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes. I finished the last half mile strong though.

    Another 5K For Clean Water

Pushed this morning’s training run to a 5K distance, and bumped up the intensity a bit. Just like training for a marathon is not easy or simple, so it is with putting in a well. When I had a chance to learn about the process of putting in a well I was amazed at the amount of work that is done before even putting a drill in the ground. And that actually does start with raising the money to fund the time and materials required to put in a well. There are villages filled with children all over Africa that need our support in bring them hope for the future through a life sustaining well. Will you be a part of the solution to a…

How Often Do We Use Water?

In the U.S. pretty much everyone has running water where they live. How much water do we use in a day? Showers, meals, washing dishes and clothes, using the bathroom, watering the flowers/garden/lawn, making coffee/tea/other drinks. What if you had to walk 2-5 miles to get a jug of water, maybe even river or pond water? Can you imagine what it would be like to have clean, drinkable, water just down the block? While we might still consider having to go even a block to get more water and inconvenience, think about the life change close access to clean water actually makes in the lives of those that don’t have it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Give The Gift of Access to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

The Road To Water Can Be A Treacherous One

For many in Africa it is a long and sometimes treacherous road to get to the nearest place for water. Bringing a well to a village not only ensures they have clean water but also the safety of those young girls and boys that would have had to make the trip for water for their families. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Help Protect Young Lives: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    Monday Morning Recovery Run

What started out being a pretty easy going run turned out to be much faster than I had expected. I was checking my heart rate the whole time and only once did it rise just a hair past 150. My pace just ended up being what it was based on how I ended up doing with my heart rate. What’s encouraging to me is to see what appears to be my heart health getting better. I feel God has definitely blessed me through my running. Honestly, one of the big helpers with my runs is listening to a worship workout album. There are moments when I am so focused on the song that I forget about the running. I did take some time this morning…
